It's been coming as in, we got out of jail against Scunthorpe, we concede late goals due to the fact we fade out in games and our recent level of performance has dipped.
We have never ever gone through a season in our entire history without losing a game and we haven't won at Coventry for 93 years.!!! They quite often than not, either beat us or draw at Oakwell. They are one of our " bogey" teams. Some people need to have a word with themselves. No need for panic to set in just cos we've dropped three points today.
I was planning to make the same comments when I thought it was going to finish 0-0. It's nothing to do with losing.
I’ve not been today only listened it so can’t comment on the match but what baffles me is this belief by many on here that we’re the ones who’ll get better throughout the season & others will fall away. We’re pressing every game & only have one proven striker & of our other forwards / attacking players we’ve got Hedges, Isgrove & Woodrow all with questionable injury records. Teams that press tend to fade late in the season & if / when that happens where’s plan B? If it’s Moncur & McGeehan we’re going nowhere. Peterborough & Sunderland both had a lot of player turnover in the summer where as we didn’t. They’re the clubs that should improve once players gel.
Lost 1 in 8, and that was against a club we haven't beaten away for the thick end of a century. Fans of all the club's we're playing are saying were a good team, including yesterday's opponents. Could easily have won yesterday, and against Walsall last week. If we weren't creating chances and getting into good positions to put balls into the box then I would be concerned, but as things are it's early doors and I wouldn't put it past us to go on a similar run of results. Some people on here said we would go straight down this season, so P8 W4 D3 L1 and 3rd in league should surely be cause for optimism?
Stop the bus I want to get off. We’ve been poor for a few weeks but Christ on a bike that is downright ridiculous
Completely agree. If anyone is expecting 90 minutes of playing well and dominance on a regular basis, they're going to disappointed.
Our profligacy is having the greatest impact on our recent results, rather than us not playing well. We should have won at a canter yesterday, Jacob Brown missed 3 easy chances on his own. Stick the chances away like we did against Oxford and Rochdale and we'll stay up near the top.
Agreed. Other teams will have good spells against us, but I haven't seen us outplayed, or seen a team that I think will run away with the league. We're ok. Could do with another striker to play with Moore, who again put a massive shift in, and possibly a natural wide player and dead ball specialist, but I'm still very optimistic and looking forward to every game.
We had enough chances to win three games yesterday and weren’t at our best In any of the depts . Dissapointing is alI can say but i think we’ll have better away days to come and our home performances will get us promotion . We won’t be rolled over by anyone this season imo
We've only played 2 teams in the top half, and one of those is only 12th. We've got one point from those games. Think the fixture list has been kind to us so far. That doesn't mean we won't beat the teams in the top half and it doesn't mean we will see a team that will outplay us, but we haven't really come up against any real contenders yet.
Is one of Jacob Brown's three easy missed chances the shot he took on from 25 yards included in the sky sports footage? https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...ons/league-one/11499292/coventry-1-0-barnsley There are 8 efforts at goal in that highlights package, four for them, four for us. Maybe Jacob Brown should have scored with his first two efforts, but I don't think the chances we missed were any easier than those missed by Coventry. Clinical finishing doesn't tend to be a defining characteristic of league 1, chances get missed, but by the opposition as well as us. We had the chances to win the game, they had the chances to have won it by a greater margin, do we just discount the latter?
Come on, that can't be right. Take a look at the highlights again: https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/11499292/coventry-1-0-barnsley Coventry's opportunities on 14 secs and especially 1 min 44 were easier imo. Re. Brown's chances, my opinion is the keeper pulled off a fine save for the first one, and Brown didn't do much wrong - kept the shot low, on target. Brown's second chance - he went with the wrong foot, but had to get a shot away because the defender would have blocked. Coventry chances were easier. Can't complain about the 1-0 defeat.
Did you go to the game or are you basing your judgement on those highlights? I don't think Coventry deserved to win. Given the finishing by both teams, a goalless draw would probably have been the fair result. Davies only real action came from a back pass from Pinillos which was very short
The first two on viewing the highlights aren't as easy as they looked at the match, but I'd still back an attacking player to bury one of them. Bizarrely, the 3rd chance I am referring to isn't in the highlights, despite being the most presentable of the lot. Cavare knocked it across the box for him shortly after Coventrys disallowed goal, he had all the time in the world to shape his body and guide a simple finish into the net from the centre of the box about 10 yards out, but absolutely ballooned it. Having been at the game yesterday I can safely say we had the better chances - Coventry were narrowly caught offside numerous times but other than the 10 minutes leading up to the goal and right at the start of the game, were second best and didn't create much of note.
This is exactly how I saw it. The fact that the fans applauded them off says it wasn't a terrible performance. Frustrating at worst. Problem is, some people's expectations have been raised by the first few games and they'll not accept anything less, which is daft really.
