I can't tell whether you're racist, thick, a wind up merchant or a mixture of all 3

Racism has become increasingly acceptable over the past few years (thank you, UKIP, Britain 1st etc etc)! It sickens me to my core! Sadly, pitting nations & races against each other is becoming the norm - we should be ashamed!
Foul abusive language is shouted too often at matches but this one was appalling - I’m far from being a prude but hells bells, gi-or wi it

It’s at times like these I wonder what the Reverend Preedy would have made of such behaviour by our “supporters”.

I rather think they may have been subjected to some of his “muscular Christianity”.

Probably wouldn't have approved of drinking in the ground either so maybe we should stop serving beer.

I remember hearing some vile stuff at Swindon a few years ago from the Barnsley ‘fans’ behind me about Kevin Betsy, who had his family watching a couple of rows below. Was I brave enough or stupid enough to challenge them ? No.

Looking at the positives, isn’t it refreshing that this kind of thing is so relatively uncommon that it warrants a post. Think early 90’s with monkey chants and inflatable fecking bananas and we’ve at least come a long way.

Some sports grounds have a text system through which it’s possible to report and allows stewards/police to keep an eye and monitor on any given seat number or area.

    You did right mate

I stopped going to away matches, and the main reason was because of the racist comments of our fans. What annoyed me as much as the comments, was the lack of action by the stewards and police, who were within earshot.

I am struggling to understand in this day and age why people still find it acceptable to shout racist abuse at players or anyone for that matter. I grew up, probably like many on here, in a time when it was common to hear racist comments and jokes on tv shows and it was deemed acceptable without little complaint. Listening to these tv shows and comments made by members of my family, namely my elderly parents, growing up has not turned me into a racist bigot, I am tolerant and accepting of other people’s views and beliefs through education and getting to know how different cultures live and work. However I do believe that unconscious bias has a major part to play in the way people act and behave. If you grow up around these comments and behaviour it becomes the norm and is deemed acceptable unless people are prepared to embrace change.
