Brilliant program, really enjoyed it. I was up there a few times with my wife earlier this year when she was suffering with severe pregnancy complications and the staff were always out of this world. You have to wait a while sometimes and there's not enough beds, but that's nothing to do with the staff. They do everything they can and more with the resources available to them and are a credit to our town.

Agreed. Thought the staff done well whilst seeming to be stretched to cope at times. Amazing how some kept so cheerie.
And yes Tarntyke sub titles would have been a great help. ;)

Rip off of 24 Hours In A & E on channel 4. I don't watch that but watched this with it being Barnsley. Hope that Andrew is OK with his COPD. Funny hearing a tarn accent on a eastern European, she was a star. Amusing her thinking chuffing comes from Sheffield and having it explained it's not a pregnant fish.

It's all down to personal experience. Some will be good, some will be bad. Ours is that Barnsley can't be trusted with fractures. Both our kids were given the wrong diagnosis after X-rays. One was told there wasn't a break, but eventually required a plate inserting after a second opinion at Pinderfields.

Strange that this thread has come up now. I was intending to put a big thumbs up for A&E after the events of the last few days...I still am, but I must also temper my original intentions to point out how one bad apple can risk undoing so much good.
To put it into perspective, my Mum is an independent, tough old bird who rarely complains about anything . Up until damaging a hip joint in July she still drove and worked three days a week, she apologises to everyone because she can't work and get out...as though it's her fault.
We got a wheelchair (hopefully temporary) and have been using that to help her get about.
At 1pm on Sunday, I rang and said I'd be there in half an hour to pick her up to go out for lunch...she just said calmly that not today thanks she didn't feel too clever....two hours later, knowing we had had our dinner, she rang back and asked me to call over because she felt quite poorly, when I got there she was sat with a blanket round her shivering with a hand that had swelled up like a boxing glove...after half an hour on the NHS111 line the advice was to go to A&E.
They were simply brilliant, quality, sympathetic staff from the first nurse we came across right up to Dr. Rob Jones.
Dr Jones and his colleagues were everything I would hope I could live up to were I a medical professional.
My mum was looked after to a standard that could not be surpassed anywhere and I would like to publicly thank them for that.
The following day her hand, and general condition had improved markedly and she was moved to a lower dependency ward.
The staff again were first class....however at 1am she requested help from a nurse to help her get to the WC...the tablets from a heart problem she has were putting an excess of water onto her bladder..the very nice nurse went to ask the Nurse in charge who refused the assistance saying if she can drive she can get herself to the toilet .
My Mum struggled three times in the next 6 hours to get to the toilet on her own, (bearing in mind her hand was still so painful she couldn't use it at all) while this person was on shift...my Mum will not tell me her name and refuses to allow me to pursue it..I don't want a witch hunt or anyone to lose their job but I would like to know that someone that has let Barnsley Hospital and it's fantastic staff down, has let the NHS down, and let my Mum down on the day of her 89th birthday ...has been reminded of her obligations when she takes the wages.
