As I waited for my daughter in the ground after the game had been postponed you could see the medical staff run into the west stand to tend to someone who looked like they’d been laid down, it seemed to be from the party that looked like they were being comforted by the stewards in the bottom corner, either way I hope there ok to.

    Sad scenes today at oakwell.

    Is she ok?

Presume just the shock of it?

That was Laurie, our Mascot Coordinator. Steve is his very good friend. He collapsed through shock but is fine and at home recovering.

Thanks for your concern, and for everyone's understanding today.

Thanks for the update Whitey. Laurie is an absolute legend in our eyes after our looking after my son twice when he’s been a mascot so glad to hear that he’s ok.

Laurie and Steve are both fantastic genuine blokes. They give the next generation of fans match days to remember every home game. They make the day something special for the mascots , flag bearers, junior football club scheme etc. Seen a whole bunch of thank you letters over the years from parents for the fabulous work they do at the club. Hope it is not too long before Steve is back at Oakwell

Is Steve the ever so slightly shorter guy with Glasses? If so then he's an absolute legend in my eyes. Anyone who gives up their time to voluntarily make kids dreams come true can't be described in any other way can they? Legend

Never much good at remembering how tall folk are but he definitely wears glasses so imagine it's who you think it is.

Steve is a diamond. One of the nicest blokes anyone will ever meet. Today was very hard.

Again, thank you to the fans for the understanding.
