This is about Steve and his family it’s not about you. Just stop trying to justify yourself.

I respect Steve and his family. But wouldn't he have preferred to be treated off pitch side and not interrupt the game...?

Are you for real? 11k disappointed? I would’ve been disappointed if we as a club would’ve just rolled one of our long standing volunteers off the pitch after he’s had a cardiac arrest and said “deal with him there cause we’ve got a game to play”

Saying you respect Steve and his family and then follow that with the comments after isn’t respectful at all it’s the opposite.

Put down the wine and get to bed because that can’t be the reasoning of a sober mind.

I’m glad you don’t make the decisions regarding these things. Everyone who acted and made decisions today did so with class, compassion and integrity.

Football is of little consequence in moments like this. That’s not being politically correct - it’s just fact.

You’re the only one coming across as a ******.

Tried my best to be offended by the mirror article but didn't see anything wrong to be honest

Seems random to say ‘I’ll sleep well tonight’ - Was he earlier asked something along the line of “how can you sleep at night....”?

Can’t see anything wrong with the article either. People aren’t ‘grieving’ and there’s no focus on individual friends or relatives looking distraught.

If this had happened anywhere but Oakwell, would you have been as offended?

People were disappointed that someone was in a bad condition and wanted nothing but the best for him, hence the applause when the match abandoned. I would never place a football match above someone’s life. If he had been moved he would have died and I’m pretty certain his friends, family, club, the medical staff and everyone there hoping desperately for the best for him wouldn’t have just ‘got over it’.

I never tell people that they should go support a different team as I don’t think we should push people away but if you genuinely would have preferred Steve to have been left to die so the match could have gone ahead then you have no right supporting the team Steve has spent years of his life (that you would have happily thrown away) volunteering at.

I think you have missed the point. The Barnsley players will know Stephen and would have had it on their minds what was happening. Burton already said the players were affected by what they saw and were engaged in when it happened. Fans were worried for him and on top of that his treatment was playing out in front of 11K+ fans, amateur and professional photographers, his friends and family. The clubs safety officer, police and medical services were all involved and the match officials. I therefore can see why a football game wasn't the priority and why they made the decision to call it off. So i don't think its a question of what Stephen would hypothetically want

I'm sure Fabrice Muamba was quite happy not to be moved and to be treated on the pitch for nearly an hour a few years ago.

Im fairly sure Steve would have preferred not to need any treatment at all and have been able to watch a good game of football. Unfortunately he wasnt able to.I dont know him at all and at the time had no idea who was being treated but if anyone had suggested moving him so the game could go ahead I I and I guess 99% of those in the ground would have been totally against even giving it a seconds consideration before rejecting it totally
