Surely this would qualify as medical leave, won't it? You didn't choose when this happened to you. I can't imagine your colleagues being upset that you need to be off for what is a medical procedure. And not one you voluntarily wanted to pick up, even if it is a byusy period. And it's not like you would be taking a whole week off for it either.
By law your employers cannot stop you attending a pre arranged appointment at either doctors dentist or hospital
If work have been understanding, they will of this if you demonstrate just what you've done to help ease work on your colleagues. As an employer myself I'd have no issue at all Just ask them, sure they'll do what they can to assist
If you don’t have the stitches out soon they’ll become infected and potentially cause you to be off work again. Health always comes first.
I get it I hate taking time off work, when you work the normal 7.30 to 5.30 shift you can't ever get to the doctors, dentist, haircut so you end up just not going and when the time comes that you have to go and you make an appointment it's a 2 week wait for a 2 minute session or you are queueing for ages on a Saturday. There are too many people who call in sick when they are not and it does affect others. The stitches need to come out though so go and make up the time.
Google I heart barnsley. After hours and weekend appointments Should be a nurse about to sort your mush.
Compo isn't worth the effort from my experience. Not to say not to try, but I was attacked by 6 people who tried to rob me 8 years ago in Meanwood. For a broken nose & collar bone & severe bruising to my crotch I got £95. I ripped the cheque up. They pretty much said I was at fault for not just giving them my bank cards, etc.
Get to A & E wait a few hours and get them removed yes your not meant to but it doesn’t take long to do. I was in a similar predicament and just explained I didn’t know I wasn’t meant to get it done at hospital but if you need them out you need them out.
01226 242419 Call them. Tell the consultant over the phone you need to see a nurse and why. Sorted. If you go to A&E to have them removed then I hope they make you wait 6 hours and you get arse grapes.
Go into your GP and ask to see the nurse on shift. When I had a massive skull operation, was released from Hallamshire after 2 weeks and told after a further 2 weeks to see my GP to get the staples removed. I was told i dont need to see the GP and the nurse would do, nurse would be free soon. I waited 5 mins and she came out, ushered me into the room and removed all the staples. maybe the same case for you?
Wow, £95, that's shockingly bad. I don't know any details about how they operate I just remembered about their existence from my time working in the personal injury side of insurance. Thought it might be worth making Jay aware of them, especially as he mentioned he was losing money he could ill afford to by taking time off work in connection with this. Whether he pursues compensation via this route is entirely up to him of course, but now he has the option.
Sorry but this isn’t correct. @Jay feel free to PM me if you want some employment law help as I have a solution. May not be ideal but feel free to get in touch cheers
Why isn’t that right as a union rep I have had problems like this before yes you might have to make any time lost up or take it unpaid but they cannot stop you from attending an medical appointment
You’re allowed time off for dependents (unpaid) for emergency situations and time off for antenatal appointments, however there is no act of parliament or statutory instrument that entitled employees to time off for dental or medical appointments per se. For example, if you had less than 2 years service and you took a day off for a dental appointment then the employer could sack you - you would have no recourse because you can’t claim ordinary unfair dismissal and wouldn’t have been asserting a statutory right / not linked to disability.
