    Genuine question.
We've only played 1 team in the top 10, getting a point at home to Walsall.
3 of our 4 victories have come against teams currently occupying 21st,22nd and 23rd place.
We lost to Coventry,a team comfortably beaten by Bristol Rovers yesterday.

It's just a thought that was concerning me this autumnal Sunday afternoon. Would welcome any attempts to disabuse me of this foolish notion.

    You Reds!

Did anybody spot the deliberate mistake?
Think we've played 2 teams in the top 10,not 1.

I don’t think we are. Comments from opposition fans seem to indicate we’ll be up there. I feel this team is strong. Iron out the shortcomings (or at least what appear to be shortcomings) so far, and I think we are in for a very enjoyable season. There will of course be set-backs along the way. Having said that, It’s early days and by end of January the top 6 could look completely different to what it is now. I remain confident but not dillusional.

I have been to most games this season home and away and i think were doing fine. Our only problem has been our lack of quality on the bench. In the next few week we will have hedges potts and woodrow back to to keep em all on there toes as i think a few have only been keeping there place due to results and not personal performances. As saturdays line up would have shown stendall is not afraid to try players out. We will be fine and will be up there were it matters at the end boys.

I don;t think it's a false position because we've dominated just about every game and looked a class apart at times. I do think we've had a relatively kind introduction to League One again though and we've certainly played some of the poorer sides so far. I think by the end of October we'll know a lot more, Fleetwood and Peterborough away, Luton and is it Doncaster soon after? Some tough matches there. I actually think we may drop down to mid-table before getting another good run going pre-Xmas and hopefully maintaining that through next year. We're still not the finished article and really need Woodrow, Isgrove and Hedges to add an extra attacking dimension. Hopefully then, with Bahre settled in, we'll be in good shape.

we have only played Walsall in the top 10..... yes we have played Blackpool but that was a cup game and we fielded a much changed team. Oh and no I do not think we are in a false high position. There are at least six teams around us who are though . Mark my words Peterborough, Portsmouth,Walsall and Charlton will all begin to fall away in the coming weeks.

There is a long way to go.

Like most teams in this division we have weaknesses / lack of cover in areas. To have a good season injuries to key players need to be minimal.
I think the current management team have been brought in to blood academy / U23 players. Lineup on saturday would have featured 2 from last season's U23 team. Few managers in the past would have had the balls to do that. Both those lads are better than Ugbo.

Sorry,Coventry are mid table aren't they, confusing them with Charlton for some reason. Only strengthens my point really though, that we've only played one out of the top ten. But as other posters have reasoned, hopefully we'll be reyt.

I think every result so far has been a fair one. So in that respect, no, our place in the table is where we deserve to be. We haven't played many of the better teams, but that doesn't mean we'll lose to them when we do, we just haven't had the chance to test ourselves yet.

My opinion - I thought a lot of people were way over the top with their analysis of the talent in our side and our prospects for the season. However, we have also performed far far better in some games than I thought we were capable of.

If we're going to be successful we need Woodrow to put a shift in like Bradshaw did. Bradshaw is not a great player, but he gives 100 percent every game and his stamina is remarkable. Our game plan requires that kind work rate. It's a difficult role to fill.

Woody, Heges & Potts could be the key to our season. Defence is solid. Need to be more productive with the ball.

has anybody been following the progress of Callum Styles at Bury... he is due to come back to us in January. Anyone know how he is coming on with them. You never know he could be a very good bit of business for us.

I think we are where we are on merit, but have a bit of a test coming up because due to yesterday's unfortunate events we have been overtaken and have a tough away game to come.

I wouldn't read anything into losing at coventry, it happens every time we go there, and yeah they lost at Bristol, but they also lost at home against Rochdale, who we trashed 4 0.

Won 4 drawn 3 is what it is, regardless of who it's against, and I can't remember us coming away from any of those games thinking wed got lucky.

We're not perfect for 90 minutes of every game, and we don't have all the round pegs in the round holes, but we're doing OK.

1 defeat in 8. Repeat it, it sounds good

I think on balance , weighing everything up and taking all the variables into consideration, the answer is .... NO

No we just need to improve the final ball into the box, some of the crossing has been woeful from both flanks and stopped some fantastic play up to that point. We also need to be able to break teams down more effectively when their game plan is purely defend and try to catch us out on mistakes. Was good to hear Stendel acknowledge that point in the Q&A session.

Other than that, we have justified the position IMO and have the talent in the squad to get us out of this league at the first attempt.

I agree that a lot of the crosses coming into the box are wasteful and needs improving but the simple fact is we are still making lots of gilt edged chances which we aren’t taking.
Also we have made many chances with teams that have defend first attitudes such as Wimbledon .
Not saying we can’t improve on our approach play but imo it’s our finishing that’s lacking from forwards and midfielders alike and to some extent our defenders need to contribute more to our attack especially set pieces.

Only lost 1 & if we had taken the chances we created in the games we drew, we would have been out of sight in most of them.

We need to beat the 1st man when crossing the ball, if Brown does play more regular & cements his spot, this will happen, he put more fantastic crosses in 10 mins at Scunthorpe, than we have put in since!

Rochdale was superb, absolutely superb, if we have that type of performance in us, anything like on a consistent basis, most sides won't be able to cope, the only thing that has been missing is the delivery & execution in front of goal, that is the bit that wins you games of football.
