Does relegation make that much difference? If you're relegated from the Premier League in football (parachute payments aside) the drop in revenue is huge. As is the drop in attendances and media exposure both at home and abroad. Is it as significant in cricket?

Not massively because barely any games are televised, the attendances are rock bottom and there's not an awful lot of media exposure. The main difference is the standard between the divisions, and if you're stuck in division 2 for too long the division 1 teams will come and poach all your best players.

It's England that do that to us! Maybe a spell in Div 2 would make them look elsewhere.

You can't win either way really, unless you fill your team with Kolpaks.

A very transitional time for the club coming up.
Overseas players haven't worked last 18 months really & i don't think Gale is half the coach Gillespie is.
We have been robbed of some fine fine players due to international call ups, but some players who play week in & week out have had bad seasons.
Brooksy will be a massive loss & we will need to find a good overseas player to come in & give the squad a boost next season.
They will have a new stand next season & hopefully this will improve the atmosphere within the ground, will have to wait & see.
Keeping their div 1 status is good news tho.

I was at Worcester yesterday. There was a good number of Yorkshire supporters in the crowd, which I estimate to have been about 1000. New Road is a really nice place to watch cricket.

I used to love going there when I lived in Gloucester. They had some great players then like Graeme Hick and it’s a lovely setting for a cricket ground, apart from during the winter when the River Severn bursts its banks.

Always been curious why there is such a long-standing connection between Yorkshire and Worcestershire. So many players have migrated down the M5 to play for Worcester over the years and this season one went the other way (Kohler-Cadmore)

Must have been on the sauce last night as they're struggling with the bat today.

Looked like they were struggling but what an innings from Ballance and Brooks. Ballance might get one more chance for England.

Hes done for England in my opinion, he got worked out and worked over by bowlers who reach 90mph, not too many of them in country cricket so he will hopefully do very well for us for the next 5 years, especially now he’s not captain.

Brooks is my player of the season wished he’d had have got 100 today

Not captain any more pal, he gave it up earlier this season and Patterson replaced him.

If my maths are right notts and lancs will probably finish on level points given the state of play. If right lancs just needed another 27 runs to get the extra bonus point that would have saved em.

County cricket is well-reported in the yorkshire post and indeed most of the broadsheets. I bought the times for years fundamentally as it has some great cricket writer's on board and it provides reports from all county matches (i only bought it for it's excellent sport coverage i am not a fan of it's politics).

Lancashire have been relegated to Division Two. Couldn't get the required batting points
to avoid the drop against Hampshire at the Aegeas Bowl.

Got that mate. My last response was that if lancs had got 300 runs I think the extra point could have saved em. Providing lancs win and notts lose.
