But once built, it is absolutely criminal to sell it at a significant loss when the value of the land it is in has increased by a huge amount due to the improvements in the area immediately around the stadium.
I never liked the old Wembley I like the new one even less Time common sense prevailed and a national stadium built in the Midlands
They will retain the rights to club Wembley though - which they value at £300million. They claim they’re making profit. Should be kept imo though. Wembley is synonymous with English football and vice versa. It should belong to The FA.
Couldn’t care less, ***** hole of a place. Doesn’t matter a jot who owns it, national team will still play 95% of games there to largely disinterested crowds and the cup finals and play offs will still be there.
How is that common sense? The transport links to London make it the quickest place to get to for a large % of England, not to mention overseas fans and tourists.
The sale isn't ratified yet is it? It is looking more likely but the last update I heard on the radio was that it still has to be signed off by the FA council.
Don’t care who owns it... do care about the value for OUR money! Somebody high up in the FA must be getting some lovely lined pockets. Why sell it? The FA aren’t exactly short of a bob or two.... dodgy as. Also, why isn’t it on any news outlets?
Because it hasn't happened yet. This is the latest update I can find https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45665700
The FA still owe around £142m in loans on the stadium. This wasn’t expected to have been paid off until 2024.
You can get a train from donny into central London in under 90 minutes - the grand central ones that start at Bradford are non-stop to kings cross after Doncaster - and all the east coast mainline trains are under two hours even if making a couple of stops. And the cost isn’t bad either if you book in advance. A tube from there takes 20 minutes to Wembley. I can realistically go from my front door to a seat at Wembley in under 2.5 hours. Wouldn’t be much quicker if they built it near St. George’s Park. It isn’t as isolated from the north as some make out.
Maybe it's because the people who are selling aren't the people who financed it? Didn't they get some grants from various bodies, lottery and such?
