Im not a massive golf fan but I love this tournament. USA have a strong team, will be tough for the Europeans even with home advantage. Hopefully 3 days of compelling viewing.

And Dustin Johnson’s just missed a sitter to win the hole. Long may this continue!

One of the few golf tournaments I watch too. Shame I have to go to work.

In the home office..... big telly.... just so long as the irritating YOU ESSS AAAAA is kept to the barest minimums. Though "get in the hole" every minute and a half is pretty annoying too.

There's a smutty gag in there, but it's beneath me to tease it out.

Crazy how fast the Ryder cup changes, Europe looking solid, now US looking in charge. I always think we need to be ahead by the time the singles comes round on the final day.

Don't generally watch much of either. But hooked on Ryder and Mosconi (Pool if unaware). Great rivalry and compulsive viewing.

I can only see the US being too strong for us this time even with our home advantage. Hopefully I’ll be wrong come Sunday though.

Unfortunately I can't see anything other than a convincing USA victory. I appreciate not all of their team are proven Ryder Cup performers, but you look at the line-up and its ridiculous the amount of fire power they have. They haven't one weak player in my opinion.

Sadly, I agree. Aside from that amazing comeback a few years ago where we turned it around in the singles, we've generally had to show better teamwork in the 4balls and 4somes. As it stands, we're at huge risk of being 3pts down after the first round. Some of our rookies look frightened to death.

Mcilroy was the only player not to make a birdie this morning it’s not the rookies

Fleetwood bounced back with Molinari which was desperately needed. There were too many rookies in that opening morning when there are huge amounts of nerves around. Hopefully we can pull back in the 4somes which we're usually much better at.

Mcilroy's putting is awful for such a good golfer and usually whoever putts better wins the match .

    What an afternoon for Europe!

It really highlights just how "pampered" the American's are on their USPGA Tour, with how well pruned the courses are and how playable the rough is. On a lot of their courses, you can play from virtually all the rough, so an accurate drive isn't as important as it is on European courses.

Saying all that, they will come out tomorrow like a wounded animal and the Blue team are going to have to be at their best to defend against it.
