Like i said in a post last week a manager has to play the cards hes been dealt. Its ok playing like Brazil IF you have the players. When you have a big bugger up front and more physical players, feckin use it! League 1 is a league of its own for this way of football

I watched the stream in the second half as well. The ball was like a hot potato and there was little composure on show. I also thought they were allowed to get far too many crosses into the box. The result was more important than the performance though. We needed to get back on track, keep teams fearful of us and not lose touch with the automatics.

Amazed me how Fleetwood came out and roughed it up in the second half, but our players were getting all the flaming cards!

this guy Stendel and his staff, for me, are doing extremely well. The amount of new faces in the transfer period was not enormous, but it seems we have a team that's very together and have a very "all for one, one for all" kinda attitude and that's important. Also the club has shown a high level of community spirit which is also important too. This club is a totally great club to follow ... I wish I lived a bit closer in order to get there more often. I first attended in 1962 aged 6... loved the club ever since.

What are you on about ? I have watched the reds for the best part of sixty years & never known that it was only acceptable to win & play well , yes it is better if you play well but I have never found any win unacceptable .

It was a poor match low on skill but we won so I can’t say I give the slightest toss. You ******* reds.

I didn't go today, or watch the live stream. As such I really don't care about the performance at all. The only thing that mattes is the result and a 3-1 victory away from home is a good result against anyone. To be honest, even if I'd gone to the game, I wouldn't have cared all that much about the performance. When we're away from home the result is so much more important than the performance. Some of our most memorable victories have been backs to the wall defensive performances. At Oakwell I want to see us play well and win, but winning is still what really matters.

The only thing that could make today even worse for you is if Lloyd was on his way round to yours to gi thi a kiss and a cuddle to celebrate an away win, three goals scored and a lad scoring on his second full game for us. Go Conan.

I can't see why Nudger is being castigated/criticised for his original post. He watched the game, he thought it was hoofball. That's all. Then he basically gets hammered ( not by all) simply because we won. There is absolutely nothing wrong in criticizing poor play whether we win OR lose. In fact, there is good reason to draw attention to poor quality play when a team wins as it surely focuses attention on what still needs to be improved. Too many people on this forum are too quick to jump to the conclusion that because we win everything is brilliant. In this respect on this issue it is they who should be criticised and not Nudger

He said it was the worst game for a long time, then he went on to add that winning without playing well isn't acceptable.

No one said we were brilliant today, we weren't, but we won quite well against a team that were really up for it, and restricted them to very little.

It was pretty good to be honest, considering the weak argument you made in support of Nudge.

Top and bottom of it is Nudge likes to go fishing, nets plenty, myself included.

In which he said "worst game for a long time".

Most of us agree that it wasn't a great performance, but is there any need for the melodramatics?

That's the reason people jumped on his post, but maybe that's his intention?

If he sees it like that, then that's his view and he did try to explain why he said so. I don't know if there is an agenda with him at all, I just thought there was some logic in his comment.

And if we see it as drivel we'll call it as that.

BTW, he'll be stroking his nads reading all this....

The problem is we have people posting on here with very short memories.
Some can only remember as far back as what type of pie they ate the day before.
Barnsley has always been known as a place of flowing football - we have often scorned the hoof ball tactics of the likes of Berty Bassett when he was at the Blunts.
Countless times I have come out of the WELL and heard this said in a downbeat sort of tone ..... ‘well we won but it wasn’t nice to watch’.

Winning is seen as everything these days.
    It wasn’t always like that.
In fact it’s only recently been like that.
