I was wondering where people get their tickets from? I can never seem to drop on any cheap or tempting tickets, looking to book some for the Wycombe game 8th December, Can anyone give us a clue of any sites where I can look? Thanks in advance.
Trainline is the usual one https://www.thetrainline.com You can also try the individual train franchise holders, depending on your destination. Sometimes they have special offers that are not on Trainline. For example, Trans Pennine Express is https://www.tpexpress.co.uk
I use trainline.... For Wycombe you can go two ways! Via Birmingham or via kings cross! Try using raileasy split ticket https://www.trainsplit.com/?gclid=C...sI3ofJQpeRU87bXv5SVHaxgjKmNQ-TRYaAkXUEALw_wcB
I split my ticket last month when I went to the Walsall game on my own. I also have a rail card which knocks a third off. Splitting my ticket into 4 from Didcot to Barnsley saved me £13. I booked on line requesting 4 separate offpeak returns. The best places to split your ticket does vary depending on your destination. On my journey the splits were Banbury, Birmingham and Chesterfield. However, I was able to get a service direct from Oxford to Sheffield. Note that to benefit from a split ticket you need to ensure that your train service stops at the stations you have split at, although there is no need to get off the train.
I just use the normal Northern Rail website. You need to book early if you want cheap tickets. We usually book them 3 month in advance and with a rail card get a London return for around £15. We booked Wycombe tickets for around £25 going via Leamington Spa and return Via Birmingham.
Its a nightmare really. Wycombe was coming up forty quid via snow hill Birmingham. Peterboro was 28 less than an hours journey too.
It’s usually cheaper if you break down the stations. Like for Wycombe we have booked from Sheffield to leamington then leamington to Wycombe. Coming back we’ve got Wycombe to Birmingham moor street and then new street to Sheffield. Works out a lot cheaper.
u need to be on ball 12 weeks in advance, prices usally go up by day after that, keep ya eye art 4 luton if ya going fares will be up soon from donny to kings cross
depending on times of train a lift,or train from mexbro which is 2.50,tbf its easier from sheff but they never do any cheap tickets into london hence why i go this way n many others do.do you go much by train?
I always use http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/. You can get some real bargains tho' sometimes you have to book two singles for one journey to get the best price - eg Sheffield to Manchester and then Manchester to wherever. If you travel into North Yorkshire it's best to get a single or return to Leeds and then a single or return from there. You can book up to 3 months in advance.
You do realise it New Year’s Day. Northern don’t run. East Midlands do cheap tickets. Just need to be on the ball as they fly out. And it’s 63 saver return. Pay on the day. Depending on who you travel with/rail card it’s a third off that. So 40 quid day return. For the sake of a twenty quid for not adding best part of three hours travel time to the day... I travel everywhere by train barring odd midweek when it’s the car.
yes i do realise its news year day and northern do run, caught train to sunderland and pboro[to donny] other year both new years day fixtures.i usually go wi grand central who av been replaced cant remember name but same price with railcard.a know what ya saying it is a pain getting from barnsley to doncaster adding extra time to your journey but a dunt mind part of day with all lads and 20 quids 20 quid to me lol,n like av said its as easy to get train from mexbro into donny for me or mrs takes us str8 thro to donny half hour either way,it takes that from barnsley[or just less from wombwell in my case] to sheff on train so not that much in it tbf,i shall keep my eye out for the cheaper 1s from sheff tho
