For Stevie Mallan http://the72.co.uk/116905/the-one-that-got-away-former-barnsley-midfielder-shines-at-hibs/
It's regrettable that he didn't make it with us. Looking at the clips of him playing for St Mirren, I truly believed we had secured an excellent player. Sadly, it didn't work out for the lad, so as far as he was concerned, it was probably best that he moved on. Good luck to him. Regarding any sell on if he leaves Hibs for a bigger Club. Given his patchy form in the EFL, it begs the question, is he capable of playing at the highest level.? Only time will tell.
I reckon we'll have a big sell-on clause, but players from the Scottish league don't tend to attract huge bids so I doubt we'll see much return. Might end up breaking even. I liked Mallan and thought he could have done well here (we really missed a set piece taker last year, and his were the best), but if he wasn't up for it then we did the right thing letting him go home.
It would have been interesting to see what he would have been like with Stendel as his coach. Its refreshing to see us play football more and playing it on the floor with fast one touch passing (when we're at it) and it may well have suited him better. I think our two head coaches last year treated some of our players appallingly, whether through spite, or cluelessness, I'm not fully sure (though signing so many number 10s wasn't the best move ever either). Obviously its a division lower and still early days, but its refreshing to see players responding to a manager who encourages them and congratulates them rather than beating them with a stick saying they aren't good enough constantly.
