It is isn’t it ? Brings home how fairly recent it was compared to the long time ago in a far away land concept of the black and white soundless footage . My great grandfather was killed in that conflict which really isn’t that far down the line to be cast as an ancestor (although that’s what he is) As the creator says it gives them a human face rather than a Charlie Chaplin type of long ago
Definitely on my watch list, thanks for flagging this up Marlon. I could not help think, also of a connection to ' The Lord of the Rings' too.... Tolkien served in the first world war and used many of his experiences in his books... Jackson directed the Hobbit and the Lord of the rings. Is there some kinda connection here.
Your welcome . Seems Jackson had a bit of a thing about restoring old footage but not sure if First World War was a fascination but he did say he marvelled at looking at something his great grandfather would have seen first hand.
