just been reading this https://www.theleaguepaper.com/feat...al-challenge-appears-to-finally-be-at-an-end/ Seems quite ironic? Didn’t SISU stop / fail to ensure Coventry played there? and now possibly find themselves with no ground again
I wonder how many Coventry fans would happily turn back the clock and still be at Highfield Road? Of all the new grounds the Ricoh must be the most soulless and depressing. It looks magnificent but is far too big, the stands aren't close to the pitch and it's as far out of Coventry as you can get whilst still being in the city limits. They'd be better off letting Wasps keep it and building a 25,000 seater stadium somewhere else in Coventry. This may just be me being nostalgic I'll admit, I'd much prefer to still be going to Highfield Road, Ninian Park, The Vetch and Saltergate etc. Need to move on with the times I guess!!!
I guess this would be my concern if we ever moved from Oakwell. It is a decent stadium but grounds like that look awful when a third to half full. We'd need to do it when we were established for a while in the higher tiers.
I never went to highfield road because, of course, they were top flight for many years so we never met. But I detest the Ricoh Arena. Most soulless, corporate, anti football stadium ever built.
I worked with a keen Coventry fan for a number of years and we always meet up for a pint when they play the Reds. It's not only us away supporters that don't like the Ricoh Arena. My mate and his family members who usually attend with him, don't have a good word to say about the place. They would love to move to a new purpose built ground.
