Which was better and which was more enjoyable to watch? I’d probably say this one will get more points over the season but the 15/16 team had the better individuals and were better when it eventually clicked.

Also, who would make your team if you could pick 11 from the two?

    Davies

    Bree
    Mawson
    Lindsay
    Pinillos

    Potts
    Scowen
    Hourihane
    Watkins

    Winnall
    Moore

It’s too early to say as the back end of 15/16 was something special imo. This seasons side could eclipse that but you can’t deny we were fantastic in 15/16 from about January onwards. We were so dominant. Think we were in the top 4 teams in Europe based on form from January.

    Davies
    Cavaré
    Mawson
    Pinnock
    White
    Watkins/Potts
    Brownhill
    Hourihane
    Hammill
    Winnall
    Fletcher

My opinion may change in the coming months on that XI but so far that’s my team

Somewhat subjective, but I believe the team from the second half of the 2015/16 would prove to be victorious. However, the team from the first half of that season would, in my opinion, be beaten quite comfortably by the current one.

Should’ve walked the league with the 15/16 squad. Awful at times and somewhat unfortunate in that big losing run.

Have to say, the 2015/16 side were two different sides before and after January.

And this side has in truth only played a handful of games together. At this stage, i'd have the 2015/16 team that finished the season and dominated everyone, every single one of them. if this current team can continue how they are, add greater composure and decision making and develop set pieces, I reckon they'd have given the promotion team a run for their money.

That 2016 squad was something unique. Battered everyone, even when we went up we hammered Wolves and Millers 4-0, 3-2 over QPR and then we only conceded by 2 penalties.
This squad has flashes of inconsistency and, sometimes, a bit immature at times. Lacking leadership at the back, less streetwise in midfield. The strikeforce is as good if not better though.

    Mawson
    Roberts
    White

Wonder what people's views on that 2015/16 team were at this stage of that season ? Especially as we'd just lost 3 league games on the spin on 17th October, and were embarking on that run of 9 straight defeats. Whereas the current lot sit 3rd in the same league.

There were some great players in the 2015/16 team, but not many thought so at this point in their Barnsley careers. Who knows what the current lot could achieve ? Maybe fck all, but there's time yet.

That team is a decent shout but why Scowen and not Browning (Scowen was playing at right back to get a game). And why Watkins he was injured when we were playing well

Was never a fan of browning, felt he was steady but had the easiest job in the world just sitting at side of Hourihane. Scowen is a better player. Watkins was one of my favourite players for years.

I think it’s far too early to decide which team is the best. I’d wait until the end of the season to have that debate.

However, as for a team made up of players from both sides, at the moment I’d go for...

    Davies

    Cavare Mawson Pinnock White

    Potts Brownhill Hourihane Hammill

    Moore Winnall

I honestly believe that team would win the Championship never mind just League One!

Funny we are even talking about this to be honest. Before we were relegated many were comparing the team to the one that was relegated under Wilson and many were saying this squad was worse.
It took us 2 seasons to assemble the squad that got promoted under hecky and I think this one will finish with more points than the one of 2015/16 come may.

That's the best team using both squads imo

Have to say, I'm getting the same vibe from the players as when we were beating Wigan, and walking the playoffs, and that was us really peaking at the right time.

The similarities are there in the youthful team and the togetherness.

We've already smashed a few teams, and I don't think we've properly got going yet.

I think there’s a 6/7 niller coming somewhere down the line.
