Wasn’t really against the sale per se, should the monies have gone to grassroots, EFL clubs ets, ( yeah I know, a little Pye in the sky) but I just had visions of greedy Pemier league Chairmen rubbing their hands together whilst concocting a ransom- type note to the FA

Glad it hasn’t gone through... it’s a little bit like councils selling their playing fields for the minimal short term gain....

I'm not sure why neither the FA, nor the bidder would think this wouldn't create negative sentiment. Completely naïve to think anything but negative views would be evident.

The other point, suggestion on Sky that the FA are facing a bill of approximately £72m to modernise the ground. Floodlights and concourses in particular are alleged to need updating. Staggering. For a ground that's only about 10-11 years old.

Modernise?!? Sounds like bs to make people think it’s a worthwhile deal to me... quick get rid of the old stadium before it falls apart....

It was built with the finest materials. Money wasn’t spared... let’s not forget.

That said, I bet the floodlights need to be LED... but if that’s the case, so does every ground in the country!

The 'unexpected' negative reaction serves to prove just how far out of touch with reality the buffoons running our national game are.

There's more than enough money washing around the game to fund it adequately at all levels. If only the FA had the balls to stand up to the Greed League.

Well that’s certainly true but the days when Wembley Stadium could be seen as iconic went when the Towers were pulled down. I’ve no affection for the new ‘ground’ . And while on on my Victor Medrew, ir should be Oakwell GROUND not stadium.

As big and impressive as it is of a structure, it’s pretty poor as a purpose built football stadium. The top tier feels miles away from the pitch, doesn’t have great acoustics and is very bland looking. Went to the Millennium for the AJ fight back in March and reminded me how much better that stadium is.

Should have kept the old Wembley, if only for sentimental reasons and if nessacery built a new stadium somewhere more central of the country.

I have no love of the stadium but to sell the most renowned football stadium in the world to a NFL franchise would have pissed me off.

Couldn’t care less who owns it. It won’t affect anyone if it’s sold so I struggle to see the attachment

Any magic associated with Wembley half went with the bulldozers and then fully went once it was decided that FA Cup Semi-finals would be played there. The final nail in the coffin was Spurs playing their league games there. An awful lot of clubs have now played there a good few times and not all for show-piece matches. Throw in the corporate and overly family-friendly nature of the stadium (nothing against family friendly before people jump in, but I do enjoy a sense of a football atmosphere rather than a cinema trip) and you have a wonderful stadium devoid of much soul or magic.

I'm a big believer in England touring the country. The atmosphere is usually ten times better (see Elland Rd in June) and more people get to see the team. The thing is for cup finals or play-off games, no other stadium can be so easily divided between two teams nor hold as many fans, so for those games I don't see an alternative.
