The pedants are out in force tonight. That's three in one thread. There's no need to dissect what people say with such a fine tooth comb. It's getting to the stage where people are having to concentrate on each post like they're writing a dissertation for their degree.
I think 16ish quid a game sounds fair. It's not as cheap as a season ticket rate, but cheaper than pay on the day. Reward for commitment.
I don't watch TV except when I'm at mum's. I have seen it advertised but have no idea whether it is good, bad or indifferent. I guess you are a 'judge people I'm never likely to meet' type of person?
But people who can't make every game still make a commitment to x amount of future games if they buy a flex ticket. Its a sort of mini season ticket which brings with it all the benefits of a season ticket to the club (on a smaller scale) If we were on a bad run or the weather was crap or I generally felt a bit tired I may not buy a ticket to the next home game. If I had already bought a bulk pack of 5 tickets I would be going as I'd already paid. Winner winner chicken dinner as far as the clubs concerned. When asda have "four for two quid" on heinze soup it's not because they know I'm human and can eat or can't eat. It's because they've got more of your money and know if probably only buy one or two tins without the offer
It's the fact that their work is taking them out of the season ticket bracket and there no alternative money-saving option. It's making attending games too expensive for those people. I can get to around 10 games a season, but make half that amount, as I can't pay £25 a pop for them all.
I guess you are a 'judge people I'm never likely to meet' type of person?[/QUOTE] Errr... no. But i found that amusing.
I appreciate that as we've discussed it before, but it does boil down to cost and I agree, with you. If you can commit to around 10 games in one go then you deserve a bit of discount. Do you have to buy the flexi ticket in one go?
Although, to be fair to the club, if we continue to do well you can understand them thinking it's reasonable to charge full price. Difficult one.
Oh yeah, I know exactly how it works and think it's a good idea. How come someone who can't afford to go on a match by match basis can afford to buy 6 tickets in advance though? Is there some help with that?
Did you ever watch Father Ted? Father Jack said "****" a lot and it was hilarious. Mr Brown says it a lot and it's not. That's sort of the gist of it.
Which is what I alluded to further up the thread. People will pay full price when we're doing really well, but that only seems to be at the business end of the season.
In the same way that I can budget and therefore afford to buy a new TV at the weekend but probably couldn't afford to pay weekly for one at inflated prices from Bright House.
It's the same principle as buying in bulk when there's a supermarket BOGOF or doing the line rental saver by paying up front for the year. It's something you have to do sometimes to make the sums add up in the long run. In my situation I try to budget over the year, rather than week to week or month to month. I know how much I can spare for football and get to as many games as I can within that amount.
