    About time. At 16 you couldnt ask me anything about how to deal with banks or what to do if you find yourself sans a home. BUT ask me anything about noble gases and truncated spurs, with bonus points for my algebra skills, then you'd've been suerted.

    Reading the BBS I think some of the schools don't even teach English anymore.

    I actually failed both O Level English (D) and English Lit (C) at the first attempt (and French too!). I blame the teaching rather than not actually trying...

    German has three, masculine, feminine and neuter. Strangely I got better German GCSE results than I did in English.

    I grew up just a few miles from the German border. Dropped the language from my classes as soon as I had a choice. I get by quite well on holidays or conversations. Understanding is obviously easier than speaking it. But to do it correctly with all their insane grammar? I'd fail miserably. Not a surprise given this table:
