My mate is a Charlton fan and says we should be ashamed of the numbers we are taking tomorrow. Where do you stand on clubs where are fans are at war with the owners? Do you believe in solidarity or is it not our fight (or anyone else's)?
I can understand why their fans absolutely despise their board, just like I understand Hull and Coventry but I'm not gonna let it influence my weekend option of going to watch football.
A lot of what they are moani g about is just good business sense. They're kicking off because staff didn't get bonuses in a year that the company made a loss. Isn't that pretty standard practice? If the company I work for loses money I dont take home a bonus. They kicked off because staff were asked to only eat in canteen areas and not willy nilly around the offices. Standard practice in every company ive worked for. Crying that academy players were told to use their (provided by charlton athletic) refillable bottles for water rather than using disposable plastic ones. Whinging that academy players don't get free breakfasts every morning and have to buy their own like the rest of the population Most people moan that players are pampered but charlton fans are moaning that their youth players aren't pampered enough and their club isn't throwing enough plastic bottles away
we can only take what we are allocated.... its been said on here we have sold the allocation out and that pay on the day is happening, I think we may have one of the best away followings in the EFL .... or am I missing summat.
People want to go to a football match people have the right to go to a football match, nothing to be ashamed about at all. Your mate sounds like a proper tool.
If thats the opinion of the Charlton lot my estimation of them has gone quite down. How many are going down? 1500 the last i heard. Not bad for "teams like Barnsley"
I think the point was they're disappointed we're taking so many given that they don't support the current owner
Tools are useful. Though not generally in my hands. Your mate does seem to think it's shameful for Barnsley fans to turn up and watch Barnsley? Does your post mean that your mate thinks we ought to take more to Charlton, or none at all? It isn't wholly clear. If he thinks we ought to all stay at home, then why does he not first gripe about the Charlton supporters who'll be there? Once we turn up to an empty ground, then he might have a point to make. Until then, he has no point to make.
Didn't realise they were boycotting ... possibly have a point if they had explicitly asked us not to attend etc. Might be a bit of a surprise to your mate to know that I don't really follow the machinations of CAFC. I think he might be better pointing his ire toward the Charlton fans.
I have sympathy with fans who's clubs have issues with ownership and totally understand the boycott/not buying stuff like at Blackpool... but at the end of the day I'm supporting Barnsley and that's why I'm going. I went to Blackpool and will be there tomorrow to support my club, regardless of the situation with the home team.
No different to Blackpool away at Christmas. They have a hated owner but we will still fill his pockets by taking probably as many as Blackpool do in their own ground.
I don't really keep tabs on what other teams are doing off the field, I'm pretty blinkered when it comes to football, only care about us.
Itwould be interesting if the Charlton fans had a 'picket line' on the turnstiles................how many or our fans would 'honour' the picket line.... that said they (the Charlton fans) would have a better response if they had asked us to boycott the match beforehand
It wouldn't be a proper picket and nobody is going to travel for hours down to London and waste their match ticket cost that their owner already has hands on.
