Solidarity I am missing my first match of the season despite being in London and loving a Charlton match. The reason football fans are treated like ***** is because we let them. Me and some Charlton lads are going to paint the town a single shade of mauve
I wonder how many Charlton fans backed Thatcher over the miners? I wonder how many Charlton fans gave a flying **** about Barnsley people during the strikes? Selective solidarity, perhaps?
They're averaging over 10,000 this season so they're not exactly backing their own protest. Bit strange that they'd have a pop at the away following.
From the little I’ve read on it, I have to agree with this. They’re cutting their cloth accordingly after making a financial loss.
No sympathy whatsoever !!!!!!! While other clubs supporters were basking in glory like Blackpool and Bolton - us at Barnsley were really struggling because we couldn’t afford the players that these clubs were paying for. As far as I’m concerned they can all go out of business.
I'm not following. Firstly, I'm talking about football. Secondly, for anyone under abart 52 it's irrelevant what they thought.
Are Charlton fans are having the food ripped out of their mouths? Are the communities around The Valley being economically and psychologically kicked to bits? No, cos it's fookin football. Solidarity my arse.
Given we are now run by an investment company who acquired us to make a profit if we start heavily losing money they might say right we will shut the place down. They are not involved out of passion or sentiment. It wouldn’t destroy our community if they did that. It would have a minor economic impact. I would still hope our fellow football fans would support us in trying to fight this if it happened. Attitudes like yourself show perhaps they shouldn’t bother. Football fans are treated poorly and ripped off because on the whole we deserve to be.
We might be treated poorly but we still have a choice, to compare the treatment of football fans with the outright destruction of the coal industry is an absolute disgrace.
Picket lines, Maggie's 80s, how many Charlton fans backed the miners... Are you not reading this thread?
Mike Lowry brought that up but he's still raging about negativity because someone rated Jacob Brown at 9.99999/10 last week. Picket line is often used in a metaphorical sense. People are comparing the attitudes encouraged by Thatcherism and how this can be seen in our actions towards other clubs. And in life in general. No one is saying that running a football club badly is the same as destroying an industry.
