Plymouth match. And now with the sound of it - Charlton match. A new manager getting used to England and the English League. A hugely disappointing day today against Charlton - but the manager and the management team will have learnt something from it. STENDEL WILL SORT IT OUT !!! I’m sure of that.
Well said. It's all a big learning curve for him as it is really for any manager but for one to walk in to a team without really having any chance to bring in players every day is a learning curve.
The system has changed. Hecky set the team up and brought new players in to play a straight 442 with two out and out wingers. Morais came in and tried to change that mid season and that was bound to fail - and he did. Stendel has had pre season and a bit of time to adopt a more fluid system. But Stendel is still grappling with the strength of the English League - at the same time as having to adapt to England. But what I’ve seen and heard so far - he will get there.
Learning curve for everyone in every match, regardless of the result. Dunno why for the first Pinnock kept backing off so they could get closer to goal and then still didn't block the shot. Don't know why for the second Pinillos got in the way of Davies and didn't manage to clear the line. We will have other days like today. Three points on Tuesday to make up for it.
I think that nobody will be more disappointed than Daniel Stendel about today's result and he will do his best to sort things out by Tuesday for the Shrewsbury match. However injuries to strikers and disruptions due to international callups do seem to have had an effect on the team. Now we will see what the team is capable of if it can comeback on Tuesday and get at least a point at Shrewsbury. It seems todays performance was a poor one just as we seemed to be getting up a head of steam in recent results. That to me is the disappointing thing. I'm going to Shrewsbury on Tuesday. COYReds!!
I wonder if 3-5-2 might evolve from this? It's his preferred system. Seems he fancies brown as right wing back and wonder if dougall could be in the back three, a little like Parker did for Fulham latterly? Would allow 2 up top and give more cover when wing backs pushed on
Not been today but feared the worse when I saw the team. The decision was clear Dougall or McGeehan instead he bottled leaving one out & we ended up with a midfield full of naturally central players. You’ve got to have some kind of outlet to get you up the pitch if you don’t play with a target man. Potts can run with the ball but he’s naturally a central midfielder & isn’t the type to be breaking the offside trap & Moncur & Brown aren’t suited to that role either.
Wooooooooooowwww is this Young Nudger or has someone taken over his account???? He's actually spoke scene and I actually agree!!!!!! What's the word coming to??? Well said YN
"I'm Young Nudger and I crave attention, I'll make a new thread to post something that could have have put in an existing thread, make blindingly obvious statements and then TYPE SOMETHING IN CAPS for dramatic emphasis".
Some questions; 1) Please give an example of abuse you received in the 'Bielsa' thread. 2) Do you think it's acceptable that long-serving and well-respected contributors to this board have chosen to stay away due to your continuing presence on it? 3) There is no 3)
I’m not trying to claim to know more than him I obviously don’t but every time I see a top coach set up away from home they use quick players for the counter attack or they have a target man who can hold the ball up & we had neither. Normally even if I’d disagreed with the manager I could understand why he picked the team he did yesterday just seemed an attempt to fit as many in form players in one team without taking into account how they’d play with each other. Maybe it’s just a bit of over confidence thinking we can beat anyone regardless of how we set up
Yes and also some poor defending Pinnock standing off at first goal and poor positional sense to cut out ball across the goal for second
The goals were both poor. Pinnock for the first, I’ve no idea what he was thinking. We will come again, sometimes it’s easier to take coaching points and improve after defeat rather than after a narrow victory. There were issues in the Luton game, it should have been put to bed and in the end we just about won, and we did not iron out those issues and ended up deservedly losing. Hopefully Shrewsbury will feel the wrath.
