He’s on the spectrum that’s for sure.
Under those circumstances I’d have changed places with the women.
Although I look foreign - Spanish or Arab - it’s unlikely he would have said owt to me.

In the case of Ryanair the connecting flights argument doesnt work as they dont do connections - they just are a point to point airline were it a more traditional airline that would be a valid reason for continuing as the inconvenience to the moved passenger whilst unfortunate could be a lot less than that caused to passengers missing onwards connections which could easily cost them a whole day. I've missed connections occasionally and one a couple of occasions had to stay an extra night at a connecting airport. ( not due to racist passangers) and I would hope an airline could handle a situation like that shown without that level of disruption to others.
I don't know the full story here but if the guy wasn't detained at the arrival airport that is where I think things were badly handled

On BA they have handcuffs for unruly passengers. I am sure Ryanair also carry 'cuffs, and they should have been used on the guy, and handed him to the police on arrival.

    Disagree totally .
The passenger was clearly in the wrong but the situation was handled and ceased to be a threat .
Why make a uncomfortable situation worse by using unnecessary physical action . The perpetrator was elderly he could have had a Hearst attack or one of the stewards or passengers could have been injured.
Imo the immediate situation was handled ok , where it came apart imo was not alerting the destination airport and officials to greet the offending passenger and him face the consequences of his behaviour.

The only reason Ryanair failed to act was it would have cost them money. They would have missed their departure slot and would have copped a fine.

As for this racist scumbag there is no excuse, some of the apologetic tosh on this thread is very strange.

A Hearst attack (with or without the Symbionese Liberation Army) could never be justified for an incident like this.

People with learning disabilities often live alone and work... perhaps he was assessed to have been fit to travel alone- i have no idea? Im not condoning his behaviour but if you worked with LD you'd know that they can often come out with stuff and exhibit inappropriate behaviours which isnt the norm. So I'd say it is an excuse if he has, and then whoever is caring for him would be at fault.

I don't know if he has a disability but a witch hunt such as this in the media isn't the best way to deal with it as nobody knows the full facts. The only positive is that people are offended by what was said.

Use of racist language can be in the UK, it *might* or *might* not be in the country the plane was in at the time of the offence.

    Unacceptable on every level.
Ryan Air should be ashamed on how they handled the situation.
Hopefully police will take action against the racist.

I think all the mobile phones out and filiming is probably one reason why Ryanair staff didn't act.

Why the hell would you get fired for getting your mug all over the national news and saying the wrong thing etc etc.

Once the phones are out and recording their union reps probably tell them to get the hell out of the way.

Flying is incredibly stressful - especially for those on the spectrum - which this guy would definately be on from what I saw.

Like has been said - why a couple of lads - instead of filming to make some cash from the BBC - didn't just swap seats with the lady is beyond me.

I'm just as appalled at all the social justice warriors knee Jerking to get the noose out - as I am about the guys words and actions.

I'm not being apologetic. I find his behaviour appalling. Even if he wasn't using racist terminology or bad language - what kind of person flys ryanair and thinks they are that entitled.

However because it's so bad - I can't help thinking there is just a chance the simple explanation that he's a racist scumbag and nothing else is just that - simplistic. . And with that doubt in my mind I'll at least wait for the whole story before throwing the noose over the bough. I'm quite happy to hang the fecker. Just not yet.
