I hope you're right, I really do. I'd love to see the Isgrove we had during the last promotion campaign, fit and tearing up the wing. Unfortunately I am not confident at all but I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong.
He's a bit like Pinocchio. When Pinocchio tells a porkie his nose grows, when YT tells one his forehead grows. I saw him at the last home game and it was like looking at a Tefal scientist from the 80s TV adverts.
How common is it in the rest of the country? I'd be surprised if 1% of the country gets twelve months full sick pay. It's two months for me and I think that's generous.
Well in that case I don't think anyone is taking the piss out of our injured players isgrove- has had a history of injurys that's the risk you take signing these players and giving them 3 year deals if he had been fit all along he would of been a good signing I'm sure but just seems like a dud at the min and I can understand people saying cut our losses but that's the club and coaching staffs call to make.
Oh, I fully appreciate that I'm very lucky to be where I am. Touch wood I've never needed it, but it's nice that it's there. Just pointing out that it's not exclusive to football. I definitely consider myself to be in the real world.
It’s like Chris Shuker’s. As for this stuff about Cauley, he’s had setbacks during his recovery. Andreas has mentioned this a couple of times. But he is back in training and so fingers crossed he’s available soon. Two weeks or so.
I don’t get 12 months full pay but I am entitled to 6 months full, 6 months half. So is everyone else who works in schools in Bradford, teachers and TAs.
I think it's after a year's service but may be wrong. Will try and think on to have a look at my contract.
Yes, you're right. It was amended for newer staff coming in relatively recently. I think new starters get 1 month full/2 month half pay and build up from there.
I don’t want to advocate sacking staff & replacing them but somethings going badly wrong. Maybe we’re too busy looking at goals & assists when recruiting to focus on injury records. When Johnson started the season we got up he was asked week in week out about injuries & it was nearly always just Ryan Williams then Hecky had Bree, Watkins & White for the run in which was a few but not too many. Then we got up & we barely had an injury that first season other than Williams & White then all of a sudden from the start of last season we’ve been plagued with injuries. Gardner spent about 3 months out after getting what we were told was a dead leg away at Preston for example.
We get nothing at all on site and neither do we get a pension but going back to the original point of the post, I don’t believe any of the players or their families that have put the money, time and miles into their careers see injuries as a nice break. Any time out for a player robs them of their ability to climb the football pyramid as quickly as possible and the potential increased earnings and achievements that come with that rise.
Didn't Winnall miss a decent portion? We've always had injuries as far as I recall. Every club does. And with our intensive style of play, I'd expect there to be more niggles and injuries. There are so many different types of injury that you don't need to be injury prone, just a bit unlucky. I ruptured my knee in my youth. Nothing to do with anything other than my foot planting and a tackle coming at exactly the wrong moment. Take a professional footballer with training sessions, warm ups, cool downs, practice games and competitive games... that's a lot more opportunity for a bad tackle or something to go wrong. It happens.
Sort of agree we do seem to sign alot of injury prone players joe duegon, ryan Williams, isgrove, ady white, and glass back Turnbull just to mention a few over the years. all have awful injury records and did before we signed them. You are always going to get injurys but some of the players we have signed have been riddled with injurys prior to signing.
