Am a new member / poster and this is my first attempt at a conversation ...so here goes. I think the opposition have worked us out and jump on us from the first minute, this sentiment is echoed on the forum on a regular basis. As happened on Saturday as the game goes on we take over and look likely to win. (i was waiting for it at Shrewsbury but hey ho)..to combat this and when everyone is fit/ available could we possibly change how we line up....just a suggestion but possibly Davis Jackson. Pinnock, Lindsay Cavare, Fryers Dougall, Potts, Mowatt Moore, Woodrow Picked Fryers because of his pace and crossing plus he would have cover behind him, same for Cavare who scares me most games ( Jordan Williams to come but when) also the full backs would need to get up and down so Toby would need to work harder. Think the centre 3 would really scrap for the ball and Woodrow would be support for Moore and stand a good chance of getting on the through ball which isn't a strength at present. We have cover from the bench in most areas with an option to switch wing backs to wingers Isgrove/ Hedges if we need to go for it......yes I mentioned Isgrove ..sorry Anyway just an opinion Ive had some since my 1st game in 1970 but first time I wrote em down;;;lol
I've thought along similar lines, especially since Dougall got injured. With 3 CB's you only need one holding player (Mowatt). One of the 3 CB's can then attack the ball if needed, similar to a deep lying midfielder. Any of those 3 will largely put in a better tackle than McGeehan in my book. Not having a go at McGeehan, just think he is an attacking mid, but as he is behind Bahre, Potts & Moncur he's been asked to do something that as yet isn't natural to him. Not saying he can't adapt though. That tackle he made with 10 mins to go after he got heckled shows he may have the balls to play that role.
