I listened to the game & have only watched extended highlights, as full match is not on site as yet. I'm impressed that Stendel is trying players in other positions & getting progress. Bird looks to have done well. I'd like to see him in in Dougall's role. He's a well rounded player. I'd give McGeehan a cup run out in his better position, attacking midfield. Give Bahre a rest & put him in there. I don't care about the competition, but it looked a good test for some of the young 'uns & squad players & they did OK first half by the looks.
Ben Williams CM first half. Zeki Fryers centre back. Ryan Hedges left back. Jacob Brown right wing. Think the rest were their ‘usual’ positions. From commentary so may be wrong.
Thought Ben Williams had a blinder, very brave and got stuck in. Zeki had a good game at centre back considering its his first senior game this season. Woodrow looked a yard off the pace to me.
That's what I gather. If you look at our squad it all makes sense, that you are trying a "quite good" player in another position, as it is unlikely he will get his chance, barring injuries. Likewise, if there are injuries in this position, can that player play it? Would have to be a question mark over Fryers after their corner goal, but still maybe best 4th choice, as his distribution is good.
Completely agree. And it’s nice to see them experiment in these glorified friendlies. Although the question mark over the corner is more than Fryers. I’m not sure I’ve seen many worse attempts to defend a corner. Utterly bizarre just letting players run.
Yes, we seemed all at sea. Not totally convinced by zonal marking, but our defensive record this season speaks for itself I guess.
