Delighted to see Lloyd Isgrove back on the pitch & lets hope the lads luck changes & he has an injury free run . There is no doubt about it, a fit Isgrove is a useful addition to the squad . A footballers career is short & if you are not in the elite then it is imperative you get the maximum out of your time . I feel sure that Lloyd is an honest lad who must have concerns about his future , so hopefully the tide has turned for the lad & he gets back to playing regularly . I for one really like him & wish him all the best .
I too like Isgrove when he's fit, but that is the elephant in the room. He will be 26 in January and in his club career he has only featured in about 60 games. Not exactly a regular for anyone over the years. He really needs to kick on in order to enjoy his career.
Nothing of note from him last night during his short appearance. It's a pity he didn't start the match, perhaps instead of Brown, but there is no criticism of selection from me. As I said in my report, I think Herr Stendel is getting this spot on this season with both starting line ups and substitutions. He won't always get it right but he's doing alright so far.
The problem is he’s way down the pecking order Hedges, Bahre, Moncur, Brown, Adeboyejo & Isgrove are probably fighting for 3 or 4 spots on the bench at the minute & Isgrove’s way behind the other 5 at the minute. He probably needs a few injuries to get back involved & then he’s to take his chance off the bench
I really like the lad in terms of attitude and thought he was a major catalyst of our promotion. I have no idea but I'd imagine he's one of our highest earners given it was a bit of a coup that we signed him when regarded as a prospect at Southampton . That could put him under pressure this year
I agree would love to see him get a run of games either here or somewhere else. He's bound to have had dark days, thoughts about stealing a living, wondering if he will ever play again etc, as he's only human. All he's been through already injury wise in his short career would have got to anyone. I'm sure as a club we will have a professional such as a counsellor that the club can call upon to talk to any of the players about anything on their mind that they would prefer to talk to a club outsider about.
Problem is he needs a run of about 10 games to get up to speed and I just don't see it happening. It's a real shame.
I would as well except possibly Hedges but it took a couple of months last time round for him to get in the kind of form he had for the run in & I don’t see him getting that run of games to build his form up
Released by mutual consent in Jan. Rather use his wages on someone who might actually play and contribute to us getting promoted...
Football is indeed all about opinions but I still maintain hes had 3 good games in a tarn shirt but somehow still retains an almost mystical level of rating amongst us. Added to that hes made of nut brittle. We need better.
100% spot on. People must have watched a different player to me that promotion season. He only played well them two playoff games vs warsaw....
I thought he was brilliant when Hecky took over - really epitomised the second half of the season. But as we all know, opinions are like arseholes.
You comment about him being of nut brittle is exactly why I started the thread , I was trying to highlight the plight of injuries on a players career & how I hope in Lloyds case the tide has turned .
I get that totally and hope he does come good. The fact is though hes not really done it when hes fit, so kinda meks no odds.
I respect your opinion but disagree , as does the management of the club at the time when we signed him . I personally think he brings both ability & energy to the side when he plays but more to the point he brings width to the squad , something we are short of & although he might not be a regular starter he at least gives us the wide option when required .
The lad was great for us first time round but its not worked so far during his second spell. Given his age he should have played a hell of a lot more games in his career than he has but he just seems to keep picking up niggling injuries, I also dont think he was happy his best mate MaCarthy was flogged in the summer. I really would like him to prove me wrong but I don't see it working out for him here. Stendel may want the board to negotiate a pay off with him in january and a look to bring in someone who's actually going to contribute.
