If this terminal bonus wasn't a contractual term, on what basis would it be paid? Don't the Prem clubs legally owe it to their shareholders to oppose a non-contractual payment to a retiring employee, no matter how well he may have done for them? Curious as to how this could be justified.
I've heard 4 or 5 clubs have refused to contribute I wonder what sanctions they'll be threatened with now
If Wolves & co are punished for not feeding into the trough, the FA should be dealt with by law for corruption.
obscene amount - how can it be justified. Not as though he's not been paid well, thought people retiring got presented with a clock! Surely that money would be better off in grass roots footie
You of all people should be ashamed of yourself for that comment. A superb sportsman. I particularly recall his two Welsh National wins on Bonanza Boy. Well worth his bonus.
LOL DT! I'd be a lot happier with a bonus to Peter Scudamore! He is also of course the partner of Lucinda Russell, who won the Aintree National with One For Arthur. And son Tom is not only a very fine jockey but possibly the most articulate, polite and intelligent rider on the circuit. And (late) grandfather Michael of course rode the 1959 Grand National winner, Oxo! The country house at Holme Lacey in Herefordshire was the ancient ancestral home of the Scudamore family, but is now a Warner Leisure hotel, I believe.
