Some of you may have frequented Mint Club over last 20 years or so, but alas the Club is being closed for good at the end of February 2019, which is a huge shame and a loss to the clubbing world.

I have been asked to put on an event on during the last couple of weeks due to the success of our previous events and we are the only external promoters allowed to put an event on.

John Digweed is a legend of the scene and returns for One Last Time. We have been able to put him on the last 3 years to sold out crowds.

I'm on warm up duties again, with a brilliant line up of Steve Parry, & OC & Verde.

We've already sold 60% of the tickets but if anyone fancies seeing Mint Club off with a bang before it closes then theres still tickets left, although they won't be around long.

Took me a while to understand what you were on about.

One thing I would never put is Leeds is a Mint Club.

Had some great nights there .
without doubt one if not the best club in the U.K, the fact it is still going just empathises that, after all the superclub era ones all shut down.
it was just the perfect size club

i believe the official line is they are unable to renew the licence/lease due to redevelopment of the surrounding area .
There other venue Mint at the Warehouse is not closing.

We are moving to Mint Warehouse.

In a nutshell, Mint Club is part of a building owned by the Theatre next door and for the last few years they have wanted to expand and take the club, even though its under lease. Mint have fought it for years but I think Shane has decided enough is enough. They are getting more and more complaints from local residents about noise in buildings that have been there a lot less time than Mint has.

Its a shame, because as you say its not only in the top 5 clubs in the UK, its in the top 60 in the world.

I love playing there, and I'm going to miss it when its gone.

Sad it's closing. Know a lot of those folks. Annie Errez used to help us out in my old record shop on a Saturday.

Glad the Warehouse is hanging in. My first sounds of house music in 89/90 & also saw the Stone Roses play there.

I’m gutted tbf. Mint Warehouse as it is, isn’t a patch on the club so I’ll be looking forward to the new upgrade it’s getting early next year.

Mint Club is iconic, brilliant sound system and just the right size. Such a ******* shame, cos like I said I love DJing in there. It’ll be one hell of a send off though.

Try living near mint club and old red bus station when they’ve got a night on and you’ve got work the next day... My bedside table practically shakes

Don’t live next door to a night club then.

You knew those places existed before you moved in.

I live pretty far from it- not by any means next door- and it still makes a racket. Sithi.

It doesn’t matter how far you live from it. Mint has been there since before you moved in, when you went to look for places to live, you chose to live there probably because it was close to the nightlife.

Now you’ve got older and boring you’ve chosen to moan about something that’s been there for decades.

It’s like buying a seaside retreat near the beach then moaning you can smell fish and the seagulls are keeping you awake.

I read the thread title and thought that you were calling Leeds a mint club.

Ok this pissed me off so I looked it up. I live 350 metres from mint club are you suggesting that mint club takes precedent over all other activity within 350 metres? The block in which I live has had a residential typology for almost 90 years making your primary argument completely redundant- sure I moved in after Mint club was put there -almost half a kilometre away- but there have been people living where I am much, much longer.
I’m not older particularly I’m 27 and love the Leeds nightlife I have never had interest in the “super club” scene nor has anyone I know it’s as antiquated as a club 18-30 holiday- probably the real reason it’s leaving.
I live just as close to plenty of other venues that I enjoy regularly - headrow house, belgrave etc and don’t hear a thing from them.
I’ve never put a complaint in or really thought about it til this self righteous thread other than being a bit miffed in the night.
    Sithi.

I suppose it’s like buying a car at an auction, when you haven’t driven int. you like the car, it’s got what you want on it, and it was the right price. However when you get in, the clutch whines annoyingly at 40mph... the options are simple. Put up with it, sell it, fix it, turn your music up, wear ear plugs.

I say it like this, as I can’t imagine even knowing about the nightlife that he would have viewed the house at a time when the club was in full swing. And thereby heard the disturbance.

But this is happening a lot of late. Churches having to silence Sunday bells because it’s disturbing the village, etc.

Did the club not look into soundproofing options?

I’m personally not into clubbing, but don’t like to see pubs and clubs disappear. Good luck pal, hope it goes well.

If you live 350 metres away from Mint there is no way on gods earth it’s that club that is keeping you awake.

There will be at least 4 other venues in between that have late night licenses that play loud music until 6am in all directions.

Mint is a sound proofed building, encased within a very large development.

I’ve stood about 50 yards away and you can’t hear it.

City Centres on weekends are loud, they have done this since the 70s/80s.

I’m not being self righteous, I’m stating that something that people care about is having to close because people who have bought new development flats near to a club that’s been there for decades have started to moan about street noise when the club closes.

It’s not just mint who are getting this pressure, it’s nearly every city centre club in the UK as councils sell city centre plots to developers without a thought for what businesses are there already. At some point there’ll be nothing left for future generations to enjoy apart from shiny city centre apartments, which nobody will want to buy cos there’s **** all to do.

I’ll say it again there’s no chance you can hear Mint 350 metres away.

I remember when a neighbour had taken Stinky's Peephouse to court over noise complaints. When their name was called in court they did not answer, because they were virtually deaf. It's ridiculous that businesses that have been operating for years are closed down because property developers are moving in.
