Alan Nixon is speculating that Notts County are poised to make Paul Heckingbottom
their new Manager in time for the weekend.

    Interesting.

I did think he'd get a job higher up the food-chain. Them fvcking dirty Shrewsbury bar stewards, for instance.

    Clearly he isn't.
It makes me laugh. Some fans just cannot give any sort of credit to anyone who leaves the club. Johnson and Heckingbottom get absolutely vilified and yet between them they produced one of the finest teams of the last 50 years. One of em must have had something to do with it.

Clearly they both are more qualified than you will ever be.
FFS. Assuming you work for a living, do you vilify and discredit everyone you know at work if they decide to take a higher paying role with potentially better prospects?
Actually, thinking about it I suspect you do.

Risky move given their track record with managers recently but then again staying out the game rejecting offers is probably even riskier

Up to the January fire sale not one person called him inept (actually there was one). You can take issue with him leaving for Leeds (I didn't) but I think you're completely wrong if you really think he's inept in every aspect of football management.

On it step down but one of the bigger teams in league two. Make or break for him if he fails I can't see him getting another chance at football league management.

Best of luck to him. No issue with him at all. Did his best for this club in difficult circumstances, always be a Barnsley lad. The sting of him going to Leeds was far outweighed by the ineptness of Morais. Hope he does well. Ive met him once also, very nice chap. Its only football....

I think Notts County are a club with quite a lot of potential, although having seen them at Oakwell the other week, they indeed would be a challenge , however Hecky is no mug & given the tools could do a good job . I will never forget the pleasure I got with the success he helped bring to us & I wish him well .

Wow just because morais was poor doesn't make hecky a better manager. Morais didn't relegate us single handed.

There's no doubt Morais was a clown of an appointment, but didn't our points return improve under him? Not sure how to check but I'm sure that's the case.

Never said it did bud. But he was, im a better manager than Morais. Folks need to grow up a bit regarding Heckys departure, he'd had most of his players sold from under him and decided to work for a bigger company with a much bigger salary. Like I said, its only football.

Wherever he goes, I think it's his last chance saloon. He took over our team that had picked up and was starting to believe and successfully ran with it. We probably underestimate how much of the ground work had been done for him by Little Lee (though I wasn't a fan of his dour football and excessively convoluted methodology). He was unable to rebuild when players were sold (a tough ask), but the bitterness was ever increasing. At Leeds he was handed opportunity on a plate. And took out the creativity and made them more dour and regimented. With a very similar squad, Bielsa has them as promotion contenders (sadly).

I'm not sure Notts County is the right sort of club for him. They seem to have pretty erratic owners and had quite a lot of issues there the last few years, and they might pull the trigger quickly. I wish him no ill though. I just hope the time off has allowed him to introspect rather than fester the bitterness even further.
