Morais inherited he it's players he never had a transfer we created far more chances under morais and like already said I think We had better points ratio and if it wasn't for a mistake by Davies v Bristol in a game we created enough chances to win 2 games we would of been safe. Makes me laugh it was fine for hecky to play players out of position but soon as morais did it he got hammered. Got to love sentiment. Good luck to hecky but he isn't the messiah some like to make out.
I think what has to be considered with Morais' stats, we had a lot of games against teams around us that were "must win". We never seemed to win the must win games and I see that as the telling reason we dropped. It was a calamitous season for many reasons, but Morais, for me, was a fraud, and his appointments before and after his time with BFC pretty much show that. Its very rare players as a block act as they did. I don't really recall a manager losing every player in the dressing room, maybe Hendrie was the closest I can recall from memory.
Jesus. I’d never thought I’d see Morais apologists on here. The bloke was a dud. He made Glyn Hodges look like Arsene Wenger.
I dont think he is also. Did well for us once then went to Leeds, which is basically the main problem amongst our fans (which I can understand). I dont buy the theory of Morais had a better points average. There arent many teams who are struggling at Christmas that have a lower points average in the second half of the season, its more down to the realisation of relegation looming than any tactical genius. The team was poor last year due to the recruitment policy and we didnt deserve to be anywhere near safety by the last game of the season. I dont hold Hecky as a master tactician or owt but I dont think he deserves the vitriol he gets from some thats all.
Fair enough I just was unsure why a thread about hecky joining Notts county turned into hecky is better than morais. Just is still out for hecky in management imo but like I said good luck to him but think it will be last chance.
Morais was clueless. Without McBurnie it would have been embarrassing. I'm surprised Hecky hasn't got a league 1 job, he's hardly the first manager to fail at Leeds. Although I guess what Bielsa is doing with largely the same squad makes him look worse.
You could argue this point about several incidents last season, you can't just say if Davies hadn't made a mistake; like you say we also missed a shed load in the same game. It would be like saying if Moore hadn't missed them sitters, if we had booted it out for a throw in rather than conceding a corner. You're relegated over 46 games and the whole team, the management and the owners have to take collective responsibility for our failure.
GOOD LUCK - HECKY, ALL THE BEST. from one BARNSLEY LAD to another. A decent club with a decent fan base considering where they are, could and should, hopefully give HECKY, the chance to show his true metal
Not really apologist he was **** but because he was poor doesn't make hecky a better manager and I also don't know why a thread on hecky going Notts county turned into morais is ****.
Exactly. The open goal at Leeds still brings me out in cold sweats now. If that had gone in we'd probably have won that game and gone on to survive.
Paul Heckingbottom produced the most exciting attacking football that I have seen in my lifetime at Oakwell. In saying that I didn’t see any of the Danny Wilson promotion games - which I would imagine was like watching Brazil.
Did a good job here and a fantastic one at Leeds whats not to like. Unless the one of our own got up yer nose cos yer not from Tarn.
Overachieved in all 3 seasons with us & gave us one of the best years I’ve had following the club, even if I don’t like that he left us for Leeds I can’t say anything bad about the bloke. It’d just be bitterness
Hecky = decent manager who lost his way and spent too much time angling for a move out of Oakwell. Exit to Leeds did not look good whichever way you paint it. Result - he's ended up in the basement of the league with one more shot before he's written off. That's sad - but then he made the decision to quit the frying pan for the fire.
Agree Wilson 1st time was like watching Brazil... the 2nd time round it was more like watching ryhill but that's been harsh on ryhill.
Thinking back I can't remember any, if any who wanted Hecky to go, much of the anti Hecky stuff was because of the club he joined, if it was a lower premiership club then nothing would have been said IMO, apparently he as been learning more of the game since he left the weeds, he joined a rotating door club and was a massive risk for him but I certainly didn't begrudge him the chance. I reckon he will return a better manager and I think he would be ideal for Notts county. Only time will tell
