Thought Donny were the best side, really got at us and we didn't keep the ball well enough and gave it away cheaply when we did get it. Impressed by them to be fair, especially their midfield. We'd too many below par, and a big save from Davies to protect a point at the end. Can't honestly say we deserved anything more than we got, and I'll take a point in these circumstances any day. COYR.
The lad on ioan from Liverpool and Coppinger were the two best players on the field today... But Stendel team sheet had most scratching their heads..
Agree, not at our best by any means today but still came out with a point, would have liked to have seen us start with Moore and Woodrow up front though.
Yes we got away with murder.Need to step it up considerably on Tuesday cos Sunderland won’t be as genorous in front of goal
Had Donny scored five or six we could have had no complaints. We scored with probably our only chance of the afternoon that we tested the keeper with. We robbed them of two points and didn't have the stomach for the fight as much as they did.
Must admit I am happy to come away with the point and couldnt really have complained too much if they had nicked it at the end. Worldy from Davis to save us a point
Rode our luck at times but we also passed up too many chances to score ourselves. Suppose1-1was a decent result.
We had one decent chance and scored from it. They hit the bar, missed two sitters and Davies pulled off a world class save. We got a point more than we deserved against a side that could have had five or six. Our cause wasn't helped with the questionable tactics Stendel played by showing Donny too much respect.
One gained in the context of how it played out - but it’s two dropped realistically. Bizarre, morais-esque team selection, woeful performances from half the team and then bizarre substitutions too. Woodrow for bahre, Moncur for hedges. If not from the start, when he changed it. No - what we will do is push bahre into central midfield so that when he inevitably loses the ball, donny will be further up the pitch; and we will take the left back off - and play the ineffective left winger who can’t defend too well at left back. I hope it’s a momentary brain fart as pissing about like that isn’t needed.
Aye. Second best today, but as good as Donny were, they only got a point. All rest is ifs and buts. If Donny play as well as that every week they'll be in with a shout, but I doubt they will. Several players had bad games today, Donny fans are happy, but we're still 3rd in table and unbeaten at home. On to Sunderland Tuesday!
HaHa! I've just looked at the stats. We had more possession and shots. They shaded us 4/3 on shots on target. Donny fan on radio talking about them ripping us apart. They played well, but let's not get carried away.
I thought it was an opportunity lost to be honest 'cos I was expecting the team that won at Accrington (with Davies and Pinillos for Smith and Fryers) and I believe that would have been more than enough to see us home today. I lost count of the times that we put balls into the box in the first half and nobody was in the position that Woodrow thrives in. Whilst they were better than us over the 90 minutes, I did think it was a match of two fairly under par sides and I'd point to the fact that most of their chances came from us fannying around and giving the ball away in our own half - Bahre gets top marks for that. We made them look better than they actually were imho. Listening to McCann on the radio it's clear he spotted what I did at Charlton about Cavare and that needs sorting as every other team are going to exploit it if not. Oh, and the best player on the pitch by several country miles for me was Ethan Pinnock.
I said same about their chances to my mate. They were offside more than not, and didn't really create much outside what we gifted them. There was a continuation of us bossing possession and having most shots, but it either goes one way or the other with us in the final third. Either prolific or wasteful.
That's about how I saw it, we bossed the first half without really creating owt apart from a rasping shot their keeper saved; second half we were architects of our own problems. Why we didn't exploit them at set pieces by playing silly, wasteful short corners I'll never know (it's been on radio dee dar all week that they've been vulnerable to set pieces of late). Can't see Doncaster being in the top 6 at the end of the season, can't see us being in he top two either.
It's so difficult to get excited when we get a corner or a free kick in good position because we have nobody particularly good at taking a set piece.
Whilst I agree with you that Donny were the better side , where on earth could they have had 5 or 6 ?
