Causing trouble when there wasn’t any. Bizarre. Basically piled up an area so no one could get in their way. As a crush was developing we had to hurdle a barrier. Something that at the age of 49 I could do without. Then lined up along the rail track making it even more difficult for people to head home.
Thought it was completely unnecessary today . Police cuts have made their job difficult but on the other hand it's funny how many were in attendance today - also armed officers outside the Ponty - was that called for?
Lined up on the pitch in front of the north stand after the final whistle for no reason. Filmed the ponty end for no reason. Filmed everyone walking on to grove street for no reason. Ushered the Doncaster fans to the left side under the bridge and then had to force them back across to the station for some unfathomable reason. Overstretched and under resourced but still manage to go over the top for a league one game with minimal threat of trouble.
There was trouble before the crossing. I was there as the donny dipstick brigade came from down the slip road towards the underpass goading Barnsley folk until they turned the corner and saw how many Barnsley they were and kind of bricked it. A couple of lads scrapping got quickly broken up by the police. There are some absolute morons that attend games. Have to stick up for our lot today tho which is surprising for a change
They were a reassuring sight for my 10 year old daughter who was nervous as the usual suspects gave it the big one.
One stopped us crossing the road on the way to the ground. Just doing it because he could. Completely unnecessary and enough to warrant an act of civil disobedience whereby we waited for his back to be turned and we crossed anyway. There was certainly too much of a police atmosphere at the crossing after the game too.
Unfortunately we need them at games; some of the idiots who attach themselves to football make sure of that.
I think the police did a good job yesterday. Narrowly avoided some Donny fans tarmacing the level crossing and taking the barriers for scrap.
