Just wondering whether people would want rid of Stendel at the end of the season if we fail to get promoted? Personally I don't think were consistent enough or have the strength in depth to get promoted this season but as long as we give it a good go and show signs of building a stronger team I don't see why failure to go up would warrant a sacking.
No but it should see a total abandonment of our stupid, restrictive transfer policy which puts profits above performance
I'm not sure we will get promoted I think We will finish top 6 at least but abit early to write us off. This time last season rotherham were about 10th and fans were on p+g calling for Warne to go look where they are now.
We're averaging almost 2 points a game which is normally automatic promotion form, and have only lost 3 from 19, winning 10. I'd say that's pretty consistent. Other than that, it's not something I want to consider right now really. We're well placed and all to play for.
Depends where we finish. If we made play offs then i would stick with the management team. They have identified an attacking style of play and are willing to give youth a chance. Considering they are relatively inexperienced in terms of management and this is there first experience of English football I think they are doing an excellent job. Norwich are demonstrating the potential benefits of showing such patience this year.
To be fair we could do it all day winnall,Conor,Davies,mawson,Roberts,pinnock,Lindsay,moore....... I quite like the recruitment policy I like us signing young players watching them develop. I wouldn't be against us signing one or 2 players over 25 (even though we already have some in the squad now) I'd of been happy if we had kept hammill. I don't want us to go back to signing over 30s here for their final pay cheque.
Yes. The only two options aloowed under football league transfer rules are children or lita. There is no middle ground at all, its banned by the EFL
I think we're very consistent. We're having a great season so far and we've also got the knack of picking up points when we don't play so well.Thats a sign of a promotion winning team.
Like I said I have and still am enjoying watching many of the players we have recruited and seen develop under this policy. Davies Roberts mawson scowen Conor winnall watkins pinnock Lindsay moore Potts. Just my opinion but I like the recruitment policy Woodrow looks a player also.
I’ve enjoyed watching us this season, and we’ve had a cracking start. I like listening to both Winkler and Stendel, and have been pleased how they are trying to bed into the local community and are giving it all they have to be successful at the club. Obviously would like us to be top two, but think top 6 is more likely & that would be the lottery of the playoffs. However there are clear weaknesses in our squad. I hope (and have no reason to doubt it is) that the planning for January started a number of weeks ago - those deemed not good enough or that don’t fit into the managers plans should go. We are carrying a bloated squad though so not sure how easily we can offload, but a couple need to be released or sold, and a couple of the younger lads loaned. But if we don’t get better wide players then I don’t think we’ll be going up this year. Just a couple of really good signings could be the difference in £6m+ and a crack at the championship. Enjoying watching us play, enjoying this management team. It would take something spectacularly bad for me to want us to change. I do want them backing though to give them the best chance of success.
NO Leave Stendel alone. Go back to school, or start taking drugs, or take up model railways, or get out in the garden. I have a dream.
I think it all depends on the circumstances. For me top 6 is a minimum unless there’s an exceptional situation like a fire sale in January or a freakish amount of injuries at the same time. I remember us been on the verge of the play offs in about November the last time we got relegated & Winnall, Williams, Bree, Cranie & Ramage all got crocked for a few months within a week or two. And then we all know about January 2017 & the January under Keith Hill with Vaz Te & Drinkwater leaving & Butterfield & Perkins getting crocked so things can go badly wrong but I’d like to think this squads a bit stronger in depth Main worries are injuries to Davies, either of the first choice centre backs & Moore. I think the squads good enough for automatic promotion but I’m sure there’s two other clubs thinking the same. If for example we finish 3rd behind Portsmouth & Sunderland & both of them score a very high number of points & we lose in the lottery of the play offs then we can say we’ve been a bit unlucky & Stendel definitely deserves another go.
No, not at all. Realistically we are doing as well or better than anyone could have anticipated. Were we midtable, few would be surprised. I can’t see us finishing outside the top six, I’d be surprised if we’re not top four. Pompey have overtaken us with some but we are still favourites for the league with a few - the bookies aren’t daft. Portsmouth will have a run of games where they’ll drop points, we might well catch them at that point. A lot of other clubs talk us and Sunderland up, not just because of the money we’re perceived as having either. If we don’t have a fire sale in January, and let Stendel bring one or two in, I can see us winning the league. I think we’d have to fall off a cliff to be out of the top six - and I would never sack anyone for not winning the playoffs.
Relegation last season - self-inflicted as it was - really killed my pig. I look at the quality of the games this season and I can't bring myself to attend. If we manage to get up this year, can we be confident that there would be investment that would help us stabilise? There is nothing so far to suggest that the investment would be consistent with that aim. I think Daniel Stendel is a perfectly good manager given what he is doing with these resources. I think the questions for the club go beyond the identity of the Head Coach.
Like guys like Hendrie and Wilkinson and many other Barnsley legends who under the current restrictive transfer policy we would never have been blessed to see them grace Oakwell.
The only thing I want to abandon is 1 up front. It's *****. Any formation is fine as long as it has 2 up top
Football's changed a little in 21 years when we played Oxford someone said Jamie Mackie will score a load in this league I think thiam has more from the left wing.
