Daniel Stendel: the German England fan bringing success to Barnsley https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/nov/27/daniel-stendel-barnsley-german-klopp-guardiola
I didn't realise his family hadn't moved over with him. That's a hell of a sacrifice on his part [and theirs] to take the job.
Excellent read. I really do think we have a great management team this time... decent and honest hard workers who give a crap!
It is worrying that his family have not moved over here. I don't think that is sustainable in the longer term
Sensible not to move the family until he knows he's staying long term. Love the fostering of team spirit and his enthusiasm.
It's a job. Moving your family to a different country is something else. Given the average life span of a "head-coach"/"manager" I don't blame him for leaving them back in Germany. No different from people working in industries like the oil industry or in the armed forces - where your hard work is away from home, and you get back to see your family when you can. He is presumably on a good salary so is providing for them - good luck to the Stendel family I say. Viel Glück aus das Familie Stendel! My German may be a bit rusty since Eric Goodman taught me at BGS in the 1960s
Not sure how old his kids are. If they are at an important stage in their education its probably better to finish that before disrupting family life for work - and them having to learn a new language, find a new school, etc.
