I was telling him how we’ve hit a bit of a mini slump and how frustrating it can be at times supporting us...

Burnley or Huddersfield are just about to be mentioned, no context is ever allowed when we slip up.

Almost tragic what’s happened at Chessie, however, if people feel down or disapointed at our’mini slump’ they shouldn’t need to be reminded of other club’s predicaments in a ‘count yourself lucky’ type of thing ( not saying you are doing this, but could easily be construed this way) I hate it at work whenever you raise an issue, ‘oh just think yourself lucky you have a job or don’t work in this job at that job. It’s not a race to the bottom, it’s simply raising issues/concerns that’s all.

I think you might have imagined that one. They were in the old third tier. Never played in the second tier.

True story Nudge, I was visiting Ashgate Hospice today through work, the manager there is a huge Chesterfield supporter, we were talking about both games last night, they also played, they drew again and he was telling that they’ve drawn 9 times on the bounce

Stockport used to be a great away day. Have a few Stockport mates. Sadly they could never get the gates, with most folk in Stockport supporting City. Sale Sharks owner eventually f-ed them over. Loads of teams have slipped out of the league due to owners often having ideas that are ridiculous, like Darlington did. When the owners said they weren't going to do anything silly, or whatever it was at the press conference when they took over I was fairly relieved.

Burnley & Huddersfield have overachieved & done it the right way. They might both go down this year, but if they did they would be in a better state to go back up again, instead of becoming a Bolton, Blackburn, QPR type club.

I see no reason for us to be selling in January, but it would depend on the offer & the club. Say Swansea came in for one of our CB's with an offer of 3/4 million & a sell on clause, it would be hard to refuse & the player's head would be turned. At that point you'd have to say if the money was say partially spent getting a Kevin Long type on loan, to add some experience & then to buy a better full back & maybe a third choice young CB for cover for our main 2, that might be good business.

Look at the non-league scene... Chesterfield, Stockport County, Wrexham, York City, Darlington, Hartlepool, Hereford, Leyton Orient, Scarborough's re-incarnation, loads of former league teams that have just plummeted.

Agree about Stockport, they always seemed to be similar to Tranmere for me, they sometimes got big crowds but were constantly squeezed by the larger neighbours. Stockport's away following was usually top notch though, over 1000 to most games relatively local.

York City have always bemused me. There's only Leeds within reasonable travelling distance and that's a trek... yet they have always struggled hugely. I understand it isn't a footballing hot-bed, but there's a sizeable population there, plus when they've had big games they seem to pull out big away followings.

Never a football place. If it was it could have probably had a fairly successful team, as there are few rivals for miles.

Yeah it's a shame. I've often thought a team in North Yorkshire or the East Coast should potentially draw decent crowds such is the lack of options. Scarbrough could potentially draw on everywhere from Whitby down to Bridlington, out towards Malton etc. I know these aren't big places neither but still... ah well.

No. He said he admired me for supporting a club who have four top half finishes this millennium. He also said it's a shame that some people have so little ambition for their club and will defend any old *****.
