I had one. I also had several "Pen Pals" from Shoot. One of whom was Adam Woodyatt, who was a London based Liverpool fan, whose favourite player was Sammy Lee. Adam later took the role of Ian Beale in Eastenders.
One for Arabian Ian ... the Millwall tab looks like it's black and white to me, so I had a search to see if they'd ever played in those colours. They've always played in blue or white as it turns out and take their colours from the original Millwall Rovers team having a lot of players from Dundee FC. Just when you thought you couldn't dislike Millwall anymore eh Ian ...
Great to see one of these again, absolutely loved them as a kid. The yoof of today don't know what they're missing.
I used to play the full league programme every week using dice and adjust the ladder each week. Played the FA Cup using Subbuteo and used to draw the team tabs out of a bag for the draw. Happy days.
Knew that mate. Story has it that they originate from dundee dockers. Hence the dark blue and white. And Dundee play at dens Millwall the den. Both **** clubs
Lol, I demand a FIFA inquiry. Barnsley never won anything! Everton won a lot because the blue and white team had the best balanced Subbuteo players of all the teams I had.
So did I! My solo subbutteo FA Cup ties usually lasted about 6 minutes each way and I NEVER cheated when Barnsley were playing (heh heh)
Now if we're talking Subbuteo teams I collected ones in as many different kit colours as possible. I used to buy them from John Britton's on Shambles Street. I had a green one (Plymouth / Eire) and an orange one (Blackpool / Holland / Volendam) amongst others. White shirts and black shorts was listed by Subbuteo as 'Barnsley away'. I had that team too of course!
I've still got all my teams in the loft. God knows why but I can't part with them. And yes I had the Plymouth and the Blackpool ones too.
It was a real treat for me playing at people’s houses on a table! I used to scrabble around the pitch on the carpet. Knees wouldn’t stand for that now
Did you get the corner taking aid? Green ramp sort of thing so the ball would fly into the box....and flatten anybody it hit!
