Seen quite abit of flapping on here after losing to a Sunderland and the performance in the draw against Donny. People saying we need experience, bring hammill back, ive seen stendels ability questioned on social media and even "we are slipping down the table by the minute" in another thread. We are on 35 points 5 points off top 2 with a game in hand over 4th and 3rd. The season isn't half way through yet so a 5 point gap is nothing. Just go back to the 1st season back in this league last time https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/30758863 17th if January 2015 we were 3points off the drop on only 29 points we had just been beaten 1 nil by the pikeys (and the scoreline flattered us) we struggled to beat Chester in the fa cup and at no point In the season did we ever look like promotion contenders and this squad had "experience". All im getting at is it Could be alot worse keep the faith.
That Doncaster game was quite literally the most insipid, piece of **** performance I've ever seen from any barnsley team. Still have nightmares about it.
Millwall away. Wiseman own goal to lose 1 nil. Wasn’t at the donny game but man alive if it beats that Millwall game it must have been bad!
I was at that one too (I know how to pick em), I remember us having a couple of decent attempts that day which automatically puts it above the Donny game. There were some grim away days (and home ones) under Wilson the second time around and I am grateful for the great start we've had to this season
Yep, really. We didn't have one chance of note, it was freezing, it was something like our 5th away defeat without scoring on the bounce, nd to top it off it was a late winner against us in a local derby. Like I said though I've not been going as long as most on here. I'm sure others have plenty of horror stories about us losing to Barrow, Rhyl, Marine etc
Well said RR. There has been a bit of an overreaction of late. I was at the Sunderland game and besides from a fifteen minute spell we weren't all that bad. I do think we need some experience in the team however and I also think signing Hammill in the summer would have benefited us this season.
Actually I was at the Alty game. You might have swayed me with that - crumbling terrace, pissing rain, 8th defeat on the spin or whatever it was - marvellous. Made me appreciate the second half of the season even more!
Not forgetting the fact our team didn’t turn up that day. Got to be my worst BFC performance of all time that one.
!it cant have been as bad as the performance against donny in the winter of 2005 can it? Freezing cold, snowing if memory serves me correctly and the entire team didnt turn up. Michael boulding throwing himself to the floor every chance he got and tony ******* Vaughan stupidly getting himself sent off. Lost 4 nil
I've watched us since 1997 that Donny performance was the worst I've seen I agree with jamo. Be surprised if we strung 3 passes together all game it was also freezing you had to be there to appreciate how bad it was.
I think hammill would of been worth a punt on a short term deal but he was on trial at Donny and scunny and they decided against signing him. Also if we were to get promoted he isn't upto the championship anymore imo. Maybe would be worth it for his love for the club and leadership mind
I remember that one went with my Dad he was really struggling with the cold that day so we left at half time and drove home. He actually apologised for making us miss the game I was greatful.
