We get a Southend fan on this thread making a perfectly friendly and reasoned post - and you respond with this. And we wonder why we have a reputation as a fans? It’s pathetic. And as for the Huddersfield goal you mention, Watson didn’t leave it, he just missed it. The ref said it had touched Steve Davis on the way through. And I think we’re struggling if we are remembering examples from well over 20 years ago to justify getting the run of the green. We got a poor decision Tuesday. Today’s may or may not even it, I think whether they touched it or not they have to be active due to their proximity to play so I don’t think we were lucky, though you’d not be surprised to see that goal given on any other day.
Having seen the new angle, it is not a perverse decision by the officials to disallow. Although had we had such a goal disallowed, then I can imagine the abuse on here.
No problem mate, it's your board and posters are perfectly entitled to say what they think. Maybe when we play you again in the league we can chat again..............especially if we win this time.
I thought this was done and dusted (it probably is), but for those of you who were avid video followers of the match footage, there is this from Chris Powell's post match interview.: 'On the disallowed goal… It is disappointing in the end, but we should have got back to 3-3. We get the second goal, that gives us a chance, and then without a shadow of a doubt we’ve scored a legitimate third goal. I’ve asked the officials and they’ve told me the goal scorer was offside. I’ve been in to see them and they said the goal scorer was offside, they never mentioned about the two lads that are running in but they’ve got a defender as well.' Which proves, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that manure happens at times. I could just about stomach our lads on the line being flagged off, but Turner?
Let's be right about it though mate. Had you managed to get a replay after having only 40% possession and 3 shots on target, I would have felt very badly done to. You had a little spell after we went 3-1 up, but other than that you showed very little in the final third.
Tell you what mate, the little cafe in the away end was brilliant. No beer, so not over busy, and reasonably priced compared to other grounds. I've been quite a few times over the years, but never knew that was there.
there was definitely two players ahead of Davis and only one defender - so technically they were both offside, also though its not easy to see from that video, there was a blatant handball - you can see Davies claiming it before the shot comes in.
Handball, if you watch in realtime he moves his arm out and it touches the ball. Davies saw it and was claiming straight away.
Right, I've just watched the BBC highlights and when the header comes in, it hits one of the Southend players on the arm (28) before coming out to Dawson who scores. I think that pretty much clears it up.
How can anyone say they were 'inactive' when they were both stood on the goal line. Of course they are interfering with play.
