Yeah disappointed, wanted to progress as far as possible but the league has to be priority. Should have won that game comfortably, but the pace and skill of some of those man city players were quite impressive.
Would rather we played the kids. The fact our supposed best defence bar Cavare and almost full strength midfield were breached 3 times by lads who haven’t even made their professional debut outside of this cup is a bit worrying. The fact Stendel went fairly strong, and still lost, is a double whammy seeing as we have a far more important league match and tonight will have done nothing for confidence or conserving energy. The competition is a joke though so not arsed we’re out (except the money was probably earmarked for January - wonder if we’ll have anything for Daniel to spend).
The only thing that bothers me really is that in an important league game we dropped players and threw away 2 vital points but in a meaningless kids competition we have played the same players not fit enough to play 2 games in 7 last week. Priorities?
I care that he put such a strong team out and we lost. So now our players arent rested for saturday and we lost against a reserve side. Sounds like we should have won, but I care that we did that and lost.
To paraphrase a a certain TV ad 'These aren't just ANY under 21's.... These are M & C under 21s' We were much better in most elements of the game but defensive frailties, once again, were highlighted big-time.
I don't think people are being entirely honest here. There must be at least a slight pang of disappointment/humiliation, that we've lost to an U21 team, when people have been ridiculing the competition for including them.
The most worrying thing for me is that in the last 3 games the opposition have had 10 shots on target and scored 9 goals (9 from 9 at time of City’s equaliser). A combination of poor defending and we look wide open on the break. The sooner Dougall is back the better.
As stated earlier, not just ANY U21's - what? It's still U21's and we should be beating them with the team we put out that's my opinion
