I was quite concerned for his health looking at the front cover of his biography. To see him in such good health at the beginning of the thread put my mind at ease. Since there hasn't been any information of what was said at the get together I thought I'd make an observation based on the pictorial evidence at my disposal.
Quite disappointed I couldn't make this, if only to shake John Dennis' hand. I was one of those, back in the day, that got swept along with the 'don't like him' crowd, without actually knowing why. Perhaps he just had an unapproachable face, I don't know. But I have read that book and did a complete U-turn. He and his Dad lived and breathed our club. It was a very unfortunate turn of events that lead to our downfall as we tried to step onto the money bandwagon that football was becoming, only to be slung off through no fault of Dennis'.
I too wish I could have gone, but sadly I work for a bunch of cu ..... I mean I was working that night, and as such short notice, could not possibly have taken the evening off. I was however, fortunate enough to see him a few years back at the Lamproom.
