Needing full backs or wingers or this player or that player.

We need to be able to compete. When a team presses and harries us, like Shrewsbury or Charlton or Donny or Wycombe, we need to be able to stand up to it, battle and come out on top. At present, we can't, we don't know what to do and we're easily beaten. It's throughout the entire team and I'm not sure a couple of signings is going to remedy it.

We've got players capable of winning games when the opposition play a certain way. And we've got an entire squad who fold when the pressure is on us. That needs resolving on the training ground as much as the transfer market.

    You cant polish a turd.
It would help though if we had a leader in the pitch instead of a bunch of kids. Sadly we fcukd him off as we don't care about success, only about profits

    Spot on
But I also think they need someone on the pitch to encourage/ boss them when the pressure is on and heads start going down

From the start of the season we were quoted the high pressing style we would employ....sadly of late this has eroded away and our opponents are out pressing us and as jay says we seem as though we cant deal with it.
We have good players for this level but are struggling almost every week.

I agree, but playing a striker at right back isn't helping. Neither is having players in wide mid that keep coming back inside to where the huddle is, because it's not natural for them to attack the opposition and get to the touchline.

If you went today you will have seen how much we passed sideways and back with no real outlet, and how many times Moore charged out towards the corner flags for hopeful balls.

Yeah, it's bad enough having players not being up to the physical challenge, but it's worse if they're doing someone else's job as well.

    Fair point Jay.
We were bullied yet again today.
We were also beaten for pace down both flanks, brown couldn't keep with his man and neither could Zeki.
They also played "clever" balls that their players had a chance of catching!
The other point - Moncur & Bahre are hardly going to track back, so full backs are exposed.
Doesn't matter who you are, if you have two players coming at you, you are not going to come out on top much.

We spread ourselves too thin, with one defensive midfielder and Moore had to plough a lone furrow in the second half when we were a goal down.
    Again, no quality third striker!

You have to compete but I think Stendell is just losing his way a little he seems to be persisting in playing 442 and our squad just hasn't got the players to play that way.

I think how a team is set up is really important and for 442 you need 2 wingers who are quick, support the fullbacks and get a cross in, with full backs who can defend and get forward to over lap, 2 Centre midfielders 1 who can drop in to cover defenders and the other who can pass and get forward, so as I see it we don't have them types of players maybe Mowatt and Fryers could but from today Moncur Bahre, Brown, Mcgheehan are not suited to that way of playing and that's too much to have not working in a team.

Other than a big recruitment drive in Jan which means starting again really we would be better playing a style that suits the players we have which are 433, 532, 4231. I'll not drone on about which players fit in and how but these formations get away from requiring wingers which we don't have and I'm sure we didn't start the season when we were flying playing 442..

Tbh I don’t think we need a big recruitment drive maybe two possibly three first teamed and a back up goalie on the basis were threadbare in that dept.
A kick ass DM is a must as back up for Dougall but there’s not a lot wrong imo apart from geeing up to get heads up instead of melting when certain things go wrong .
We’ve had opposing fans praising us on the occasions we’ve been on it stating we’ve been the best side theyd seen in this div for a long time so we must. be doing something right at times . We just. need consistency and a kick up arse at times imo.

Fading by the minute, now fourth favourites for automatic promotion, our only midfielder worth his wages injured and owners more interested in finance than ambition.
Looks like a few more seasons in the third division.

That seems to be an analysis which basically boils down to stating that we're alright when we've got control of the ball, but we're gobbo when we haven't got control.

    Which about sums us up.

Now our Googledanglypress system seems to be better operated by the opposition than us, it may well be worth asking why we can't play for 90 mins like we often can for 10 or 20, when we look like mullering this league.

It does indeed involve fighting for your right to play. That's what the other teams are doing on their own turf.

Without the fight and thus control, we're toast.

We don't have the necessary heartbeat in our team.

Wycombe didn't press us to my eyes, indeed they stood off and watched us fanny around like crabs across the midfield and back to the back four until the ball ended up with Lindsay who then almost invariably put it out of play. They did expose our lack of pace, our irrational obsessions with playing Moncur and Bahre in nominally 'wide' positions, our glaring one-footedness throughout the team and our inability to defend set pieces.

The only player I’ve seen so far who seems to not panic under pressure is Zeki Fryers and that’s cause he’s played an higher standard of football- he can’t defend for toffee but is decent going forward

The point I’m making is the better the calibre of player the more time he gives himself on the ball and doesn’t panic under pressure. They’re already 3 steps in front of their opposition and that’s what we’re lacking throughout the team, especially the midfield and don’t get me started on Mcgeehan!

We as fans were all lead to believe that Herr Stendel was the master of the High Pressing game but all I’ve seen so far this season is a handful of teams deploy it on us!

We’ve been informed that it takes time for the team to adjust to this style so what’s McCann doing differently to our Head Coach?? - because from where I was sat the other week, his team gave us a lesson in the “Gengepress”

I’m not hitting the panic button just yet, because we’re not a bad team over night but it’s concerning that we’re being expertly played at our own game and we appear to role over and let it happen

Spot on mate they were content to let us have the ball in our own half and only pressed when we tried to move it forward. Thought we would struggle when I saw how they set up, we nearly always struggle against 451 formation
