EA7EDAE0-416C-4F46-9C7E-64122E093594.jpeg Probably the greatest pic you’ll see from the weekend what gets me is these blokes in their sixties shouting racist vile abuse at a 24 year old lad now either they’re so angry cos they can’t get it up anymore and I find that most “fans” that act this way our morons included wouldn’t say boo to a ******* goose in the streets.. the next time I hear racist abuse at Oakwell or an away game I’ll be bringing up with a steward or police officer and also videoing the said ppl and I hope they fancy a go!! Sick to death of this!!

There are many problems but the media racism in papers like the Mail along with the publicity given to Tommy Robinson and the empowerment given to racists by the Brexit vote all stack up. The 2 stories in the Mail would be amusing if it had been in a parody site highlighting racism - like say if Viz or the Daily Mash had done them but in something with claims to be a serious newspaper its beyond belief.
There is a right wing racist undercurrent in our society ( and quite a few others - France the US Brazil for example) that is gaining strength and its a cause for concern

There is a co-ordinated, right-wing, racist undercurrent in our societies. The Americans (Bannon, Mercer, etc) are working with the Russians, French, Brazilians, etc as part of some kind of long term plan, and Farage, Banks, Yaxley-Lennon and the others are involved within the UK. When you also look at the FCO funding an institute in Scotland to discredit Labour in the UK (in one of the papers yesterday), you can see it could stretch to the highest levels of government...

I don't want to turn this thread into another brexit debate but I think you are right there is a nasty racist undercurrent in the country but people mentioning racists and brexit in the same sentence gives the far right all the ammanition they require And if there is another referendum then you can mark my words there will be far worse polital parties than UKIP waiting in the wings and racism will get worse not better

You are right in that this wasnt meant to be a brexit debate and I am sure many of the leavers are very unhappy to have the racists on their side, but the sad fact is most racists will have voted to leave (send em home stop em coming etc) and the fact that leave won gives them a feeling that they have the right of it. There are good arguments for and against a second referendum but to say that having a second referendum is bad ( I assume only if Brexit is reversed) because if leave loses racism will increase seems a poor argument to me - to paraphrase lets stop racism by giving them what they want

Not only will racism increase but nationalism will increase as well. Just where the racists like to hide.

**** me ragged, some Neanderthals abuse Raheem Sterling and thus it's really down to us thick b@stards that don't want a single political European state because we've facilitated the EDL or something.

Well that's me told, everything bad is our fault. We must also be the ones maiming folk protesting in France, not that wonderfully enlightened Europhile President Macron. There's your EU future right there, enjoy it when Brexit is cancelled.

I am genuinely done on here now, I've posted less and less recently but I'm done now. I've suggested liberal reasons behind voting to leave, but it's much easier for others to decide we're all that thick we believed a number on a bus and we hate brown folk. Now it's pervading every ******* thread on football and I cannot be ******* arsed to pick through the political posturing to get to the football debate.

I agree. Sterling receiving racist abuse at a football match from fans of a club with a reputation for this, has got bod all to do with Brexit. In my opinion.

Why this has become a thread about Brexit is beyond me racism and brexit don’t go hand in hand!! I was merely making a point that racism is rearing it’s ugly head in the game again.. and I will for one stand up against it at Oakwell and away games now the names I’ve heard Thiam and Cavare called is atrocious and it is going to stop as like I said I’m sick to death of it!! It’s embarrassing Wycombe this weekend was ridiculous there was a few guys behind me who could barley stand up before kick off what is the point in going to the game if you’re intending on getting blind drunk!! Embarrassment to the club

Sterling gets racially abused and the person you feel sorry for is yourself. Not that you're self-centred, thin-skinned or in denial.

When you voted for Brexit you did so alongside members and supporters of the BNP, NF, Britain First and other right-wing nutjobs.

There was a similar incident at Hearts at the weekend. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46500299

The people who did it were emboldened by Tommy Robinson being up there last weekend to support Rangers. Yesterday Robinson was with UKIP on a Brexit demonstration in London.

All the racist far-right support Brexit. You're just too pathetic to admit you've stood alongside them.

its probably got **** all to do with that pillock tommy robinson either, the bloke who is shouting at sterling is sixty if a day and has probably been like it all his life, long before part of robinson was even thought about.

but this constant blaming brexit on here is fcukin pathetic.others have given liberal and/or well constructed reasons for leaving but oh no,not on your fukcin nelly, the stats and polls point towards immigration & racism, the same stats and polls predominately engineered by an establishment that wants to remain in the eu....
