Seen as the last thread got turned into political ******** when the real issue is racism is very much alive in football grounds today and I believe most ppl on here would get behind me when I say this that it’s rife at Oakwell in the east upper where I sit it was rife when I sat in the ponty when I took my four year old son to his 1st game against Luton.. he has a black friend at school and sees no difference in him and his friend!! My son will not be attending games now as I am going to take upon myself to point these individuals out video them and then spread them all around social media!!

Is there honestly lots of racism where you sit at Oakwell? I’m in the East & haven’t heard any for years. Sad if that’s the case.

It was rife back around the times when Campbell-Ryce, Odejayi & Darren Moore played for us but back then I paid on the gate & ended up in different seats every week. I might just be in an area where there’s decent people sat

The last time I heard any racist vitriol was one of our thugs , beleive it or not against Bruce Dyer . He soon hot hooved it cos he was about to get lynched.

We’re in the family stand & haven’t heard anything - if I do, I won’t be able to leave it!

I sit in the top corner of the east closest to ponty and it’s full of non season ticket holders that come in and normally haven’t a clue about the players or the management and spout utter nonsense racism is definitely rife and the Luton game I decided to take my son so bought a ticket in ponty with him and I sat higher up close to the exec boxes and honestly the abuse Cavare got was just incredible every bit of criticism he got included the word black!!

If I was the players and heard any slight bit of racism against one of my fellow players I would just down tools and stop playing. Both teams. The people who come to just watch a match of footy without spouting disgusting stuff would soon be on the backs of the ones who do.

I haven't heard any racism at home games for quite a while but I have heard it at away games. The same fans, different location.

Not heard any racism where we sit in the Ponty although I'e heard plenty of abuse thrown at the ref and any player/physio who is fat or female.
It's obviously still there among the mindless bigoted idiots but far less than it used to be in 70's when you'd get whole stands singing the "n" word. Absolutely no excuse for it in this day and age but there are lots of the old thugs from the 70's still around who you'll never change including these numpties from Chelsea. Never ever understood booing or picking on your own players. I've never done it and never will do even though I might say something to my mates about performance on the way home from the match.

I can't say I've never heard any racism near me but it's very very rare, probably once every few years, anditsan pounced on instantly.

Makes me wonder 1. Why it seems to follow the around or 2. Whether you, as a Manchester United fan, are trying to drag up the issue and create fake stories to support your player

I’m a Barnsley fan and I love this club and this town I’ve no reason to drag this club through the mud

Haven’t been able to get to a game for a few years due to moving out of the UK so no idea what it’s like in the stands anymore, but I don’t remember a time previously as a season ticket holder when I didn’t hear racist abuse in the Ponty.

Thiam and Cavare have fallen victim to it already this season on a number of occasions. Subconscious racism is also rife on here when it comes to those two too unfortunately.

When you say subconscious racism do you mean criticism? If you do then maybe you should be very careful with your words because if you're going to cry racism when a black player is criticised then it is you with the problem. If you have evidence and examples of this subconscious racism on this board can you post links?

I guess this is because they perceive the risks are lower when away. If they do it at home they risk losing their season tickets for good.

I think you're probably right although one aspect that they overlook when they carry out their 'risk assessment' is that if they are caught and convicted they are still likely to get banned from Oakwell.

I pay on the gate at t'well so sit all over the place, cant say I've heard any racial comments in recent times, I go majority away games and again heard nothing racial. Maybe its just that im lucky every week and don't sit amongst it all, But surely if it was happening a steward would be informed and failing that knowing the fans we have we'd be policing it ourselves.

I have not heard any racism at Oakwell for years, but in the pubs and clubs I visit I hear it quite a lot most people don't really mean it but just say it not knowing what is racist and what is not I doubt anyone would say it face to face with a man of colour, like that ****** at Chelsea.
