( sold off ,(just like like our utilities and other major industries) to the highest bidder, for a quick buck, total miss-managment of our assests over the last 40 years
I don’t disagree with you about the neoliberal pro capitalist doctrine the EU follows. It’s why a lot of people on the left as well as right reject it. People I respect like Tony Benn were life long opponents for that very reason. There is a further argument around is the EU the way it is because of the influence of the pro capitalist neoliberal U.K. or is it the other way round? Can’t say I know the answer to that. It’s true to say the EU puts hoops in the way of nationalisation ( which I think is wrong) it’s not true to say that these hoops can’t be easily navigated by anyone who wants to do so. The nationalisation proposed by Labour in 2017 was perfectly possible. The best advert for leave is people like Blair and Clegg and Campbell.
Spot on look at North Sea Oil. Norway set up its sovereign investment fund and has ensured its ongoing financial stability. We gave tax cuts to the rich.
And the turkeys voted for Christmas. Do you really think that Rees Mogg, Bo Jo etc. are pushing this because they are thinking of you? FFS.
i'd like to see nationalisation of public services and i do know it is possible, but i'll make it clear, this subjective topic had no bearing on my reasons to leave.. go with tony benn, scargill and skinner et al and thats my ball park blar, clegg & campbell.. they're just part of the gravy train looking after their own interests, much like most of the tories, all pro remain
you keep coming out with this , now research who the pro remain lobby are(and i dont just mean our politicians) and then tell me this lot are thinking of you..........FFS.
Most of the tories? We are in this shambles of a mess because the tories were split, Cameron to try and save half his party p1ssing off to Ukip offered them this appeasement vote.
I spent 22 years in the steel industry in a fairly senior role, and I can tell you that the EU were absolutely not responsible for the run down of the industry. In fact, the EU did a great deal to help pick up the pieces. Perhaps you'd like to blame them for austerity as well?
I had a discussion today with some remain types who were praising Michael Heseltine as ‘principled and honest’ saying he was defending the workers. Didn’t seem to understand that championing the bloke who finally killed mining off might not play too well with people they are trying to convince.
I take your point but the Tory version of Brexit isn’t being constructed with working people in mind. It’s being constructed to smash the last remaining workers rights and make a killing for Reed Mogg and the like. Again not saying that’s a reason to stop it but with the tories running it you know what we will get.
What vote do we have in the European parliament. We only can vote on laws ‘invented’ by the executive. Who voted in Juncker, Barnier and Co? That’s why Mr. Blair made a pitch for President. Mind you our Tony’s made £40 Million with his ‘company’.
Hold your head up high and ask them of their own rather unorthodox past - no countryman is infallible to decisions made by a so- called electorate.
You should ask them if they think someone getting 100k a year in Eu farming subsidies is the best person to have a non bias discussion over the values and flaws of the Eu... What’s the saying? Don’t bite the hand...
It’s the govt of the day that deters what rules they want to imply on nationalisation. They nationalised the banks without any input or comment from the EU and they nationalised East Coast Rail but the Tories couldn’t wait to sell it off to their mates as soon as it was viable again only to squeeze it dry again . It’s govts that blame the EU for their own shambles as a scape goat
