So, not a great performance, they squeezed us hard in midfield, broke quickly and made our one-trick system look rather shallow. However, the worst part of yesterday was some utter f**king moron shouting a disgusting tirade of abuse at the players as they came over to thank the fans for their support. This excuse for a human also followed this up with pointing and gestures, particularly at Pinnock and Brown that clearly left them bemused and upset. This was a vile and disgusting outburst that showed this fool to be nothing less than the lowest form of pond life and left me and quite a few others ashamed to be associated with him, albeit by proxy. I appreciate that football is a vent for powerful emotions when it comes to their team but this disgraceful outburst should warrant some action by the club. It was embarrassing, tedious and saddening to all who witnessed it. I'm not asking for smiles and absolute optimism but Christ on a bike such boorish behaviour needs a sanction of some description.
We’ve got plenty of morons who support us. Was the same at Accrington when Zeki Fryers got sent off, some of our fans were a disgrace. Abusing the ref, the linesman, rowing with stewards & absolutely tearing into the Accrington player who had the cheek to expect a second yellow card when Fryers went straight through the back of him. The player looked amazed at the stupidity of the fans screaming at him
It's certainly more prevalent at away games in my experience. We had an absolute nutjack sat directly behind me at Sunderland. Fortunately he was chucked out about twenty minutes into the game. He decided that he was the best fan in history and that it was his job to abuse the rest of the away contingent who were all 'c*nts' and not worthy of being in his company. The mind boggles at the mentality of the head-the-balls who go to football.
This is the main reason I don't go to away games any more - if you get sat near or next to 3 or 4 of our resident Neanderthals then it just spoils the day out. I go with my wife, and even though I can just about stomach 90 minutes of foul mouthed abuse at whoever tickles their fancy, she certainly can't.
Not sure if it was the same bloke but there was one doing it to Davies as well calling him every name under the sun and giving loads of 2 fingered gestures walking out near to me absolutely no place for it and as you say makes you embarrassed to be associated with their type. So much anger - it was only a football game where we didnt win - its only a minority that go so far over the top but they do spoil things for many others - my Dad stopped going to away games after the last 2 he went to we had foul mouthed aggressive fans near us and there are many more like him
so am I missing some sarcasm here our do you really think it is acceptable at the end of a game to barge to the front make loads of obscene guestures at young footballers and hurl a lot of foul and abusive language at them ?
I'm sure we're talking about the same bloke Dave. Incessant obscene and completely counter productive. Pay all the money you want but a rant like that needs being brought to the attention of the old bill. The steward standing in front of him couldn't believe what he was witnessing and he didn't appreciate being covered in spittle either. Fortunately some of the other fans around him did applaud the team.
Can’t understand why anyone would be anything other then embarrassed by this type of behaviour if I’m honest. But then again this is the same moron who wanted Stendel out and was offering to sell his season ticket so he’s either a troll or a clueless b*****d
When you think about it rationally it does seem beyond the pale to hurl abuse at players in such an aggressive manner. It just wouldn't happen in any other aspect of life. I know football is fraught with emotion but sometimes I think some fans go too far.
A bloke sat next to me at the Donny match was equally abusive and foul mouthed. In fact he was so worked up that I was slightly worried that he was going to have a coronary and I'd have the unpleasant job of administering mouth-to-mouth. After one tirade following a misplaced pass, I said "I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose mate." His response was to direct his foul outbursts at me for a few seconds, before returning his attention to the unfortunate player (can't remember who it was). What is it with these people?
It is the pack mentality that is prevalent on the terraces that gives some people the platform to become abusive in a way they are unlikely to be outside of the ground. Most of us behave a little differently at football, I know I do. I shout and swear in a way I wouldn't anywhere else but most of us know where the line is drawn and ultimately can control ourselves and our emotions.
