if we can send stuff to eternity then I cannot see why worlds beyond cannot send stuff our way too. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-46502820
We would be very naive to think we were the only planet carrying life, that's for sure. As for UFOs, it is possible but highly unlikely. I'd have thought any alien beings that come all this way and enter our atmosphere aren't likely to just piss about in the sky and then disappear. If they were of alien origin then I'd expect them to make contact with us in a more direct way. I think it is a matter of time before they declare life on Mars too... within the next couple of years or so anyway.
The vast unfathomable distances involved are probably the reason why it's so unlikely. The islands of life are almost certainly separated by such distances and time that they will never know about each other.
It is estimated that there are an average of 100 billion stars in a galaxy and there are an estimated ten billion galaxies in the observable universe. How many of these stars have planets that are in the goldilocks zone or capable of supporting life? I support the theory that the chances of us being the only life that has evolved in the universe are so remote that they are non existent. The problem are the distances involved. The nearest star to our star is Alpha Centauri which is over four light years away. Light travels at approximately 186,000 miles per second so this gives some perspective to how likely we are to be visited by visitors from elsewhere in the universe. I agree with Titus, when you consider the vast, unimaginable distances involved I just can't believe we have had visitors who had a quick look then went home.
Depends if they were looking at Doncaster though? Cos I’d piss off pretty quickly too if that was the case agree with the above however, we can’t be alone
Can you imagine that? A super evolved intelligence who can travel light years in a few days find us on the inter-galactic map, travel here and find Doncaster. Jesus wept, who could blame them for turning right around and going home.
The most interesting thing about this subject is the constant denial by the very highest authorities that such visitations have never taken place or that people who have witnessed events are all incompetent dimwits and then go on to say that everything ever seen is swamp gas, weather balloons or the planet Venus. Also every photo or video has either been taken by a "potato" or if it's too good then it must be cgi. It's about time to tell the truth, despite the consequences both social and religious .
I'm not sure there is any denial by the authorities. Generally most sightings are explained or discredited quite easily which is very different to denial. See the earlier posts about why extra terrestrial visitors would come all this way just to go home again without making any contact. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
I watched an interesting tedtalk by a guy arguing we are all alone and doing his version of the probability. I don't agree with him, but it was an interesting and unusual argument: https://www.ted.com/talks/stephen_webb_where_are_all_the_aliens/up-next?language=en#t-105337
His argument is base on the Fermi paradox which in summary says that our own galaxy is old enough to support the development of intelligence elsewhere many times over and, should they survive their own development will make interstellar travel a simple affair. That being the case, if they are not here then they are not there.
When you think that only one hundred years ago we were not much more advanced in technology and mechanics than we were five hundred years earlier, give or take the industrial revolution, then suddenly, especially after the second world war, science boomed and now there is no stopping it. I like to use the example of the first computer at Bletchley park, the size of a bus, now you have that power and more in the palm of your hand. Micro chips are amazing things and it is hinted at that they are as a result of alien technology. Could we as a race have invented such things, I don't know? All I want to know is where in my phone or mp3 player my 5000 music tracks are stored. That to me is amazing and beyond my understanding.
I think if an alien civilisation with the ability to travel at the speed of light came here and viewed all the wars and fighting of a primitive race that can't achieve light speed they'd turn about and **** off without making contact.
The Drake equation is very interesting. One of the key principles is that, as far as we are aware, we have received no radio waves from another civilisation that supports the theory that there is other life elsewhere in the universe. This can be explained but it does raise an interesting question in that are there civilisations out there that are so distant that they haven't yet received any radio waves from us or seen any light from our sun yet. They could be discussing the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe this morning.
Another theory of mine. Is everything the same scale. What if there are universes inside atoms? We know that micro organisms exist by using microscopes. What about micro universes?
Can you imagine if we had been in contact with itelligent life from beyond our planet the effect that would have on the masses...religion and the like. Also .....why do we keep assuming that they have the same or less technology than us? I have seen many people on the subject (dr srephen greer being one) who reckon the ability to manipulate magnatisum....which enables them to travel at speeds we cant. All interesting stuff.
They would obviously be more advanced than us. If they didn't come in peace we would be up the creek.
