Why would you keep players who aren't good enough and have proven that over 2-3 years? and if you can get them off the wage bill, and get a few quid for them instead of the big write off in summer, why on earth would you not do so?

Bradshaw left, Woodrow came in. Seeing as Woodrow is in the starting line up, commonly, as was Bradshaw.... thats a replacement, no?

If we retain all of this huge squad, we'll miss the playoffs. We've been hugely found out as flat track bullies, sadly. A little like a cricketer on a flat slow pitch getting hundreds galore, then the short pitch bowling comes out and they quiver and meekly surrender.

No chance - we offered him to them in the summer, as part of a swap deal. They turned the deal down, as they didn't fancy him.

This is a strange story - Moncur is a good league 1 player but didnt impress in the Championship - why would Pompey want him - if it was someone like Oxford or Plymouth in for him I could understand it but not the run away league leaders. so I dont believe it

But if it is true - no way should we be selling one of our first team regulars to a promotion rival

    Here's one from Sunderlands forum.

    They like Moore.

Exactly my thoughts Farnham Red. What are Portsmouth seeing that we are overlooking.?
Personally I like George. He's what I would term a " luxury" in that he blows hot and cold
from game to game. I was impressed with his performance against Luton, but he was virtually
anonymous against Doncaster. If he could find a level of consistency and play for the whole
90 minutes he could still prove to be an asset in our quest to get out of League One.

Before Bradshaw left we were trying to sign Connor Chaplin , we only turned to Woodrow when the Chaplin deal fell through . You & I will always disagree over Bradshaw which is fair enough but you cannot argue surely that we are a striker short & the type of pressing game we try to play suited Bradshaw & in my eyes he has not been replaced .

And me. I've really rooted for him to show more than the glimpses, but he doesn't seem to be able to do it regularly enough.

But seeing as Bradshaw was a starting striker, though not a great goalscorer, and now Woodrow is now a starting striker... that's a replacement.

I don't think I would sign another striker. Our issues aren't our striking options.

I don't mind him being sold. He's been here best part of three years and played for four different bosses. Yet he's still not a regular first team player and there comes a time when you just admit defeat to trying to make it happen.

I just wouldn't sell him to a promotion rival that wouldn't sell us a player for the exact same reason.

With Woodrow going off injured last week only highlights how light we are up front , when he was missing for so long earlier in the season, we were woefully short up top . If we are serious about trying to get promotion , then to go into the second half of the season with no more transfer windows after january, with only two strikers & couple of average prospects as back up, it would be madness , in fact if we do not bring any back up or competition in for the front two ,you can forget promotion/ play offs full stop .

So you want 6 or 7 strikers? In League 1? When we have a squad of 25?

I personally don't think we'll make the playoffs as it stands. I think our strikers are the best part of the team by a country mile. We've a seriously soft underbelly to this team. That was evident last season when they tanked, but its manifest again this term against much much poorer opposition.

So that's why I wouldn't be spending my money on a striker, when we are really struggling to create good quality chances. If you look at our overall shots, I'd be interested to see what the tally is when you remove speculative 25 yard efforts that are rarely going to hit the target.

Where do you get 6 or 7 strikers from ? We currently only have two in Moore & Woodrow , I want a third experienced striker to compete & support these two .

Well it seemed you were inferring we didn't have enough even if we'd signed Chaplin... so that would be a minimum of 6 strikers then if you added yet another.

So, its just 5 strikers you want? Or is it 6?

I take it maths is not your strong suit , Moore plus Woodrow plus one addition = 3 . I havn"t a clue how you can get the figures of 6 or 7 . All I want is one more to go with the two we currently have .

Moore, Woodrow, Adeboyejo, Brown. 4. You wanted one more last window. That's 5. So do you want yet another on top of that 5, or are you sticking with 5. Selectively ignoring options doesn't make you a mathematician.

The one I wanted in the last window is still the one I want now , I do not count Brown who is now being developed as a full back & Adeboyejo is not the finished article . I repeat , I want one new striker to compliment Moore & Woodrow , that makes three , even Paul Daniels ( if he was still alive ) could not turn 3 into 6 or 7 , where you get 6 or 7 from baffles me , I just want THREE
