It's quite unnerving that the club haven't made any noises that they will not be letting the top players leave in 3 weeks time and will in fact be strengthening the squad.
Did you mean to type usual instead of unnerving? I mean when have we ever done that. In fact, how often do ANY clubs do that. Usual story isnt it that every player has got his price?
Winkler was asked recently about holding on to players and wasn't able to answer. As we are In a precarious position but also a very fortunate financial position I expected to see some kind of systemic intent. Not really sure why, other than seeing photo opportunities of Conway and co at away games I thought our owners had fell into Barry Taylor's biscuit tin last January
Do you suffer from bad nerves? And who are the "top players"? There's only Moore really. Who else's disappearance would make a big difference? Plus if £10 million was offered for Moore he'd leave. If over the odds were offered for any player, they'd move. So any noises, beyond stating that we won't sell any player other than for silly money, would be pointless. As for strengthening the squad, that would be most welcome. But to suggest that we're all losing our nerve because nothing's been said about it is a bit...well...neurotic.
So you would be in favour of a major rebuild mid- season with our team currently in a play- off spot? We need recruitment undoubtedly but the scale of change you support would be quite ridiculous really.
I'm really not overly worried about January. We should be looking to strengthen, not weaken. As long as we don't sell during the last day leaving us no time to bring in replacements then it could be a decent transfer window for us for a change.
We need to sign hammill then we will fill the rest of the ground with half season tickets and go up as champions.....
You said they (Moore apart) can go with your full support. Now that would suggest you’d be in favour of a mid-season major team rebuild, because that is what would inevitably happen. I don’t think it will happen either.
The way we're going, would a rebuild make our play off chances any slimmer? Not that I can see. Anyway, take it as a flippant comment as no club would sell all of their best players in January when competing for a play off spot. Oh no, wait now......
This is another reason why it wouldn’t happen. We don’t need a rebuild, we need strengthening in key areas, preferably with 1 or 2 players players with more experience
The weak must make way for the strong. We've got too many CMs but in my opinion none of them are good enough for where we want to be, so we need replacements for them all.
Mowatt and Dougall (when fit) seem fine’ McGeehan looks like he’s more suited to a more attacking role but jury still out on him for that. Potts would also benefit with more experience alongside him. This is League 1, we just need the right balance for the way DS wants us to play. January is crucial
