That’s actually my point. I know the working class have been financially pressured over the last decade but higher earners have had tax cuts.

Those figures are slightly skewed though I’d say based on the introduction of the living wage rather than economic stimulus.

My wife and I have had tax breaks which lower earners haven’t, to the same degree at least.

I would happily pay more, to get our public services back to the level they once were. The level where wait times for hospital beds were significantly lower, where disabled people were given support in their lives to make the best of what they have, where crime is investigated effectively and where police are in communities tackling anti social behaviour and where our children have places to go, rather than sit in playing on PlayStation, where our towns and cities especially in the North get investment so small business can thrive.

That’s what government for the people does.

Whilst on idiotic tweets by Brexitors I see Dr Liam Fox had his go at getting the dumbest tweet of the week award

Can someone - anyone - tell me how Japan doing a great trade deal with the EU does anything other than harm us when we leave

For certain it will kill off Honda Nissan etc production in the UK, and Japan will need the EU's agreement to do a seperate deal with us and Japan have already said they will not do a deal with us on the same terms

The EU knew that a hell of a lot of people in the UK have no balls or backbone for a fight. And are totally willing to sell out their children and grandchildren to Euro rule. Before face any hardship..

of course its a political choice , however being part of the eu means we have to keep to their criteria and guidelines, they set the targets and we adhered to them

The 27 EU member states aim to cut deficits to a maximum of 3% of GDP by the financial year 2014-15, so what belt-tightening measures are the countries taking?,this is a quote from the following article

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10162176

    Voices
The EU is unhealthily biased toward austerity – that's why it's now in a budget standoff with Italy

In 2008, Europe’s leaders promised to discipline finance. Instead, it is Europe’s people that were disciplined

Fighting solves nothing. Ask around anyone you know that is divorced. Those that fought will be worse off than those that worked together to achieve a compromise. We chose to leave, yet we still want access to the house without paying anything towards the mortgage.

I can't speak for everybody, but personally I'd rather work together to achieve something greater than the sum of the parts.

to be fair the country was in recession for the biggest part of that graph, companies were going tits up and/or having to lay people off, therefore you are hardly going to get wage growth

Yesterday was certainly the day for it - although I think the 11th was their Christmas party (just after the coup attempt!).

we know who caused it,the very same bankers that not only control the uk but also the eu..I completely agree with you in that there was no need for austerity, there are alternative methods like investing in productivity , the trouble is no-one in the eu chose this route their respective governments all chose cuts. This has happened throughout the eu and yet some are still arguing the eu had no influence over the matter,

the following is a quote from the european institute

According to the European Union’s Maastricht criteria, EU member states may not have a budget deficit that exceeds three percent of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or a national debt that exceeds of sixty percent of the GDP.

To get permission to hold a referendum and organise it will take about 6 months - well past the march 29 deadline for leaving.

is anyone actually taking into consideration that the EU may well be heading for a terminal decline -

I think Junker has already said that extending A50 is possible for a referendum or GE - not that I think either will happen

Its possible but no real evidence to support that happening any time soon, but even if true - the UK current position Just inside but with its exemptions in place would still be in a good position -

If the EU goes into a terminal decline, then we are f*cked. Inside or out of it. We are too close geographically, and too many businesses are too integrated internally to survive without a recession that makes the credit crunch look like a boom time.

I think the key point to take from this and multiple threads is everyone who voted leave didn't actually care about immigration after all so we're sorted! Get rid of the "red line" on freedom of movement and we can stay in the customs union and single market. Happy Brexiteers, happy remainers, economic meltdown averted, and we can continue to be an outward looking country!

    Don't talk daft.

Just because someone believes in left wing, liberal values doesn't mean they are a communist.

The simple fact is communism is a theory which could work. The fact that in the countries its been used in have done it incredibly poorly and with a significant amount of corruption. That doesn't mean the theory isn't workable.

Anyway, Corbyn isn't anywhere near as far left as communism, some would even argue whether he's even as far left as pure socialism, but somewhere left of centre.

Countries in the world which have a left leaning government are doing well, Norway, Denmark and Sweden, who share our economic values as well as cultural. The have thriving economies and the best education and health care in the world, with very little crime. I'd rather look towards them for evidence than a ridiculous notion we are going to be following a Russian model.

What makes me laugh when you debate pros and cons of socialism, everyone sticks up Russia, China and now Venezuela, but when looking for examples of Capitalism and its issues, nobody suggests the USA, which is in an awful state with widespread corruption, awful Crime and Murder Rates and a country divided. The divide born of big business using populations and politicians like pawns for their own ends.

I know I'd rather live in a Scandinavian Society than the US or even a divided UK at the moment.

and this is exactly why pillock teresa may thought she's get away with her shambolic deal, simply because she was of the opinion that the 17'5 million are thicko's who care about nothing but immigration, thats why the first thing that came out of her gob when unveiling her deal was 'no more freedom of movement'

I find it actually quite interesting how the US and UK have historically called communists the enemy. I watched a 5 part documentary on Robert Kennedy on Netflix the other day. Even he was under scrutiny for being Communist, like he was some kind of spy.

Communism is only an ideal, a method of governing. It doesnt make people build bombs or kill people, people do that.

Capitalism does it on a vast scale, but that gets ignored. The US Elite will attempt to tear down Communism in any way shape or form, and label it as evil, because it goes against their warped sense of power and hold on the world. Both methodologies have huge flaws.

What do you care about though mate, out of interest?

What are the 5 big reasons in your opinion. I'm not arguing with you, I'm just trying to understand.
